  • +1

    Ozbargained

    • +1

      141 clicks yet. 25000 trees

      • +1

Understand. There must be traffic from CRM too. Irrespective the portal has gone slow

  • +1

Will any of these grow fine in a pot on an apartment balcony?

  • Soooo slooooowwww

    • Waiting……

  • +5

Planning portal ddosed by ozbargainers again

These government sites can only support 5 people at a time istg

    • +2

After 10 attempts I got it.

      • +1

        Congratulations. Enjoy them Mandarins 😉

        • I would have loved if it was Kumquats but mandarins still good.

          • @Sheng: brother share me your tree

      • how? I enter my address and appear the drop-down list but impossible to click on it…I am stuck there forever…..

        • Took me 7 times to get my address.

  • +3

Government sites what do you expect lol

  • Update. Thank you for your interest in the 2022 free tree giveaway. We are experiencing a high demand for free trees. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working hard to resolve the matter. Stocks are still available, please continue trying to claim your free trees.

    Damn.

    • Submitted mine, but it appears as if I have not submitted as I can see the details entered when I go back in. No email confirmation either

  • im in the portal but couldn't see a section where you select the tree you want or am i blind?

    • +1

Right hand downdrop > new > free tree application.

      • +1

yeah im in that portal filling out the details ….
ah website is just damm slow

  • This should be a persistent and ongoing campaign, not a flash in the pan on some pollies' whim. Lots of evidence points to positive health effects (to humans and many non) from living amongst trees, plus they make the place keep cool and look beautiful.

    • +2

If you have a look at the site, it's been available the last 2 years as well. So it might be more of a seasonal thing, in that Autumn is a good time to plant trees.

    • +2

It is an ongoing campaign… for the best rootings it selected seasons.

      • Good to see.

Would also be good if councils took it upon themselves to do more street planting and caring so our streets look nicer. So many barren streets, particularly in new suburbs - such short sightedness.

        • +1

Trees also lower the temperature of the surrounding area
Stops the asphalt from getting so hot and radiating heat as well
Plenty of articles detailing how it helps lower the peak temps in a suburb

  • +1

Man this website is impossible to use with the lag

  • +3

    CAN'T ENTER MY ADDRESS~~~ :(

    • same - its farked up

  • +2

The address lookup is brutally slow, and queues each key stroke, so if you think it has stopped searching, and type another character it starts the process again then will eventually show a partial drop down list.
Pre-filled info in Chrome breaks it. It didn’t work at all on my phone.

If you type the beginning of your street address, wait literally 3 or 4 minutes without entering another character, it will finally give you a list to pick from.

Then wait another minute for it to select the local government area.
Eventually, you can select the number of trees and Bunnings store.

It will work if you move as if you are buried in honey, eventually.

  • +1

'Nothing but space' this constantly happens to me,lel.

  • I claimed one last year and it just shows that application, can’t proceed. Probably the last tree I’ll ever get!

  • Try again it seems to be working now

  • It's taking forever but I managed to register after nearly 2 hours of trying. hahaha.

  • no more mandarin or orange trees left (im liverpool NSW) so either my neighbourhood not possible or its all sold out

    • The Mandarin are in Chatswood

      • +1

I dismissed this as a racist joke, but yes mandarin trees are available at Chatswood

        • damm why chatswood get mandarins but we get stuck with the other trees lol

  • Website is absolute trash, I have somehow managed to get three active applications going, none of which I can edit or complete.

  • -4

Hmm. Perhaps the state govt could include areas included in"greater Sydney" for the great scam covid lockdown.

  • I was able to fill in the form but now I can't submit..

  • +1

Has anyone successfully loaded the address drop down list on their phone? It keeps loading and then stopping but nothing pops up.

    • Keep trying by adding or removing a letter from your street name every so often. The site is getting smashed.

    • UPPERCASE

    • type the street name then suburb, don't start with st No. It will take few minutes trying to find it.

  • +1

Anyone involved in the government websites should be ashamed, you suck at your jobs or have zero budget. It's unusable due to some damn trees! imagine if you NEEDED something. We are so backwards when it comes to technology I'm embarrassed for them.

  • Finally managed to submit one. The address part took forever, but once it popped up the rest were quick.

  • +1

Finally got through after 30 minutes and about 20 attempts. Now im gonna have a good look at myself in the mirror

  • I gave up! It wouldn't accept my (correct) address, and now all the fruit trees are gone :(

    • +2

      You are sweet enough

    • Apparently, North Paramatta is not in the LGA of Parramatta.

  • Finally applied and got email from ePlanning for 1x Magnolia ‘Little Gem’ (Magnolia grandiflora).

Don't know if free small tree worth nearly 1 hour on the laptop ??

    • My friend said they are expensive

      Small one is $25

      • I know, they are nice tree, I think it will be very small tub tho will see when they are ready for collection.

    • What's your hourly rate?

  • FYI, what worked for me was typing out my address somewhere else and copy pasting it into the form - it came up instantly.

The site was still laggy filling the rest of the form out but I just waited instead of refreshing and it would come good. Only took a few minutes all up.

    • Now focus on the road and find your way

      • Must not have gps in the cab.

  • +1

    Website still getting hammered.

Who needs to pay for load testing, just get a good deal posted on OzBargain and we'll do it for you.

    • +1

Post a $2k drone for $300 and i will guarantee you that website will have a meltdown.

  • That was tough, what a website…… - but be patient and you will get there in the end.

    • when I try to type in the street, nothing happens. No drop down etc, even though our area is incl Penrith

      • Enter the first few things, eg, 1 Smith Stre…… and then wait for the little spinny wheel over in the right side of the box to stop. Shortly after, you should get some options.
If yours doesn't appear in the first few, add another letter and wait again.
Keep repeating until yours appears in the list - might take a while, just have to be patient.

        • thanks. It finally worked. I tried the suggestion someone else said of copy and paste the number and name of the street and it would have a big wheel spinning and then still have no result. Terrible website. Anyway, done now Thank you

  • Thanks OP - got one :)

  • I have clicked submitted and it has the application summary. Is that it? or Do I need to wait for any confirmation message.

    • This happened to me too. How do you know if it went through?

      • +1

You get an email confirmation if it was submitted.

      • You will receive a confirmation email.

I found the trick with the address is to use a prefilled one and instantly click on the drop down list. Typing it in takes a gazillion years to load.

Now we wait for email from bunnings to collect the trees!

      • i kept clicking submit until something seemed to happen, now I've just had the big blue spinning wheel for 10 minutes :(

    • I was finally able to press submit and at the top it says thank you for submitting your application and received an email 1 minute later

  • I get into the portal but when I type in my street, there is no drop down for the area…I'm in Penrith, so should be in it

  • +1

Half an hour to apply for a fruit tree. That's my adrenaline rush for the day

    • Took me 1 hour!

    • Tell me about it! Unfortunately for me there was only native Aussie trees left. All good!

  • +4

Didn't work for me the last time. This time managed to get in via Service NSW login but when I clicked on claim your free tree I get to "case worker" page - active work. Maybe I have to propagate the plant myself. When I type free tree in search box I see my submission from last year as "submitted". Easier to just buy from Aldi who's having a citrus sale next week 2 plants pk for $17.99

    • +1

Same here. Use my Service NSW login and get the "case worker" page. Gave up on my tree.
