Good Price, but Note: PRE-SALE SPECIAL - Expected dispatch June 18

    • +1

does anyone think the prices of other TV will go down that much by June 18th?

      • +1

        no

      • +1

I'm not really sure how much more you can expect a quality branded 46" panel to fall?

  • excellent price and specs are also pretty decent

  • anyone got one? for the price it is probably worth it knowning it's not going the be a outstanding tv, but surely more than passable.

  • now that's what I call a bargain. +1

wtf, july 18 delivery … no deal!

    • 18th of June, not July. Kogan do this regularly with new models. Every 2 months or so we see these deals, nothing out of the ordinary here.

    • How do you speculate a no deal for waiting time? It's included in the price.

  • Should add $3 to the price since you have to put down the $549 now, forgoing 1.5months of interest you could've earnt in the bank lol.

  • +3
    • for the deal but the picture quality is very questionable. I had one Kogan in the past and always regret my decision.
    • Does anyone know why this is? Are the panels different to the ones Samsung puts in their Samsung branded TV's?

      • +3

The panel is fairly irrelevant…. probably the most important thing in a TV display is the electronics that DRIVE the panel.

Put another way - the best LCD panel in the world will still give a shitty picture if the source has rubbish quality. And it will also give a crappy picture if the electronics that convert the source to a display format are poor quality.

The mention of "Samsung panel" is just marketing blurb.

      • Well you can read my short review on my 42" model:
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/65614/790981

Bottom line the panel doesn't matter (well it does but other things matter way more). So don't let Kogan fool you with that BS. Not saying this is necessarily a bad TV, just saying that you cannot be sure of that until you purchase it or someone else does.

Never bought from Kogan and don't really need another TV, but price is very tempting…

Only negative for me is that it only comes with one pair of active glasses, and extra's are $49 each and out of stock.

    • Samsung active glasses sell for less than $30.

  • Fascinating price but yet a bit of a mystery regarding to PQ and life expectancy.

I think those OLEDs coming in new financial year will tend to depress prices all round on brand label LEDs, while most will probably be satisfied by our existing televisual-tech.

  • Delivery is $60+ which make this tv cost around $610.
I was going to post this deal but decided $610 and a month and a half wait is not worth it
Delivery varies between each state, from $60 - $180 so this tv could cost up to $730 for some people

Samsung panel doesn't mean it will be as good as Samsung TVs. The Aldi tv I bought reportedly has samsung panel but the tv is absolute crap in every way.

    • +1

yep same deal with the 55" kogan I got a year or so back, picture lagged like crap on any games, wasn't worth the $1399 I paid so got my money back

  • think it is without WiFi.

  • Delivery is 110+ to Perth WA. It turn down my order.

  • Will this last as long as my exist analog TV ? If so i will think about it.

  • +1

    +1 from me for:
    Power Consumption: Average: <220W
    Energy Star Rating: 5.5 Stars
    Panel Refresh Rate: 100/120Hz

Just noticed "one" person's feedback from WP here:

(am I allowed to post WP links?)

    • Yep whirlpoolers don't like Kogan

Questions you need to ask yourself.

    Have Kogan fixed:

    • TV remote interference (with all made in China, not well known brand DVD players, Satellite TV boxes, Karaoke machines) - basically you cannot use them.
    • Incorrectly implemented 1080p@60Hz - which most branded Blu-ray player will default to (due to Kogan TV's default 1080p AUTO being that mode). You get motion issues (skipped frames). 1080p@24fps implementation wasn't good either.
    • Poorly implemented 60Hz means connecting your laptop to a Kogan TV will have the same motion related issue (anything with animation (e.g. movie playback).
    • Lack of 1:1 mapping - you cannot display PC/laptop, iPads, Android tablets, iPhones, Android phones properly (part of the screen will not be visible). Even if you managed to use display driver to scale it back, it will still look blurry.
    • Poor quality panel (even from Samsung) with really bad colour shift from various angles. Samsung rejected / not quite right panels are still considered made by Samsung.
    • Zero firmware upgrade for most, if not all their TVs.

Kogan does not make the TVs, they just rebadge cheap no name brand TVs.

While it is fine to buy Apple, Canon, Samsung, Nikon branded products from Kogan, avoid Kogan's own branded products. Please don't make the mistake I made. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE…

    • +1

People… neg vote me all your want, but read the whirlpool comment yourself.

I thought it would be good for people to know what Kogan TV owners feel about Kogan TV products. No one in my family wants to touch the Kogan TV I bought. You cannot test/try out Kogan TVs before you buy.

A lot of folks on OzB are happy to shoot the messenger, don't take their ignorance to heart.

As frewer said, plenty of people will still add your anecdotes to their knowledgebase about Bogan Technologies. :)

Thank you very much for your valuable information, and sorry about your mistake.

    • A bit unrelated (sorry) but how do you fix the "you get motion issues (skipped frames)" I am having the same issues with my LG TV hooked up to my LG HD recorder/bluray player combo.

(if this is inappropriate could you please link me to somewhere applicable; Thanks)

From what I read Kogan TV's can't even come close to the features, performance, value and brand of Samsung, even if they claim to use Samsung panel for their LCD'S. I'm thinking I will just steer clear of this TV or any TV's Kogan has to offer. Can some one post a good deal on a Samsung 40" to 46" LED TV.

    • As a Kogan (ex-) customer, I think a good brand on a good special would be way better value.

  • i have a small kogan from a few years ago and also a soniq (jb hifi's in-house brand)

the soniq is newer but imo a lot better, i think the prices are about the same… you can go to a shop and see it too + easier warranty etc..

i probably would just get soniq over kogan from now on, even if a little bit more.. much prefer being able to see it first..

  • Deal sounds great but I would never buy a TV without looking at it first.

When I bought our 63" Samsung in 2010 I compared several other brands and models which were next to it and played around with the settings and even took note of the menu structure as well.
I think buying online without checking it out first is risky and asking for disappointment.

Then there's the matter of a comprehensive online manual to download from the manufacturers website and firmware upgrades as well.
The Kogan user manuals are pretty sparse in comparison and do they provide firmware upgrades to download?

  • OMG,seems too deal for me,though I wanna experience big size Full HD 3D TV.

  • Stay away from Kogan, for they are for your usual bogan….

  • Aldi have a 50" LCD scheduled for first week of June at $599, don't know if its 3D though but might be worth a look when it happens
