Qantas Frequent Flyer Business - Adding ABN When Not Travelling for Business

I have a Qantas Business Frequent Flyer account which I've just opened and I've just booked flights for a family holiday, but it keeps asking me to add my ABN to get points for the business account.

Can I add my ABN even though its not a flight for my business and get points to my business account? Is there any consequences if I do?

I'm fine to not add it if its not really allowed, but don't want to miss out on points if its a common thing people do.

You can double dip on business and FF points, they even promote it

    • Even though its a flight for a family holiday, not a business trip?

        Yep, they don't care

If they did, they'd stop me from adding my ABN to family trips I take with my kids… which is pretty obviously not business (although maybe some businesses do involve flying kids around? I dunno)

    Doesn't matter.
They promote accruing points on both personal and business accounts …on flights, car hire and accomodation.

  • Does the inclusion of an ABN have anything to do with the GST treatment of the value of the transaction for both Qantas and the ticket purchaser?

    • No

  • Your business will earn up to 40 points for every 100 points your traveller earns. The traveller earns their Qantas Points and Status Credits as usual.# Add your business’ ABN and the traveller’s Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number when you book. That way, your business and the person travelling will earn Qantas Points.

As a Frequent Flyer earn 3 points per $1^ plus your business can earn an additional 1 point per $1 spent.(Hotels)

Earn Qantas Points twice on car rental - 4 points for your business plus 4 points earned as a Qantas Frequent Flyer
