Booking SIA without passport number

Morning all! My wife and kid are in the process of renewing their passports and we are looking to lock in a flight to Singapore on SIA. We can't seem to progress past the booking page without putting in passport numbers.

They currently don't have passport numbers as their passports are being renewed - and their old passports have been cut up by the post office.

Can I just put in a placeholder passport number for the purposes of booking and then amend the booking details once the passports come back from the passport office? Keen to find out as if this is not possible, we will not book until we have received the passports, which could mean that we lose out on getting a good deal for these flights.

Appreciate your help friends!

Thanks! Been on hold for 2 hours so thought I would ask here too.

  • If you put some other random number in you will probably have to pay to change the details later. I wouldn't risk that.

Google Search brings up "You can easily update your passport details in the booking after the on-line registration is open 48 hours prior to departure (if other attempts failed)."

I might have in the past put the original passport numbers with a year added to the expiry then changed it later…

Just enter a random passport number and then change once the new passports arrive; after all ppl book flights up to 12m in advance and sometimes ppl lose passports (I have) which makes previously entered numbers obsolete.

    • i wouldnt enter a random number

In the US visa application it advises to enter zeros

I would use the old passport number as until the new one is issued you could argue the old one is still valid. The post office would not have physically cancelled the old passport, likely just cut the corners off so it would not be acceptable at a border crossing

  • With SQ till you do online check in 48hrs before departure passport number can be anything
