Asus Radeon Dual RX 6600 8G Graphics Card $469

This looks to be the all time low, even cheaper than launch.

I still think prices will go lower.

        • Only tried it for the first time last night with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It performs as expected from a 3080. The real test will be MSFS 2020.

  • Got RX6600 for under $700 6 months ago and never regret it. $469 is a nice welcome back to normal pricing. Under $400 soon?

Must have been selling as they’ve jacked up the price by $110. HODLer’s tax

The market is picking up momentum. Retailers can now increase the price if they want.

40xx series maybe mining proof. so 30xx series price will go tru the roof, even the used ones as the new ones stock dries up once 40xx stock coming in. Maybe good time to stock up current gen cards now.

      • Nvidia will not make the 4000 series mining proof.. THEY want miners to buy their new stuff not boost the price of the second hand market of the 3000 series or AMD's/Intels new stuff that they see ZERO profit from.

        • Then 40xx hodlers will be stuffed again like last year with 30xx series.

          • @[Deactivated]: on release day yes the scalpers will strike like they always do/have but after a month or two prices settle to RRP/MSRP and things will work out well for the buyers

We also have new AMD and new intel GPU's coming into the market at the same time so prices will be stable

              2M only?

The price of GPU is still on the 🌕 after 2Y.

  • Does anyone think these prices are falling due to impending release of RTX 4000 series later in the year?

Also Intel is a dark horse with their alchemist GPU's. I feel the 2nd half of 2022 may be a pleasant surprise for GPU HODLers who are yet to make a purchase.

What's funny is gamers have shown they'll pay anything for a gpu. It's unusual compared to most other products some gamers aren't too far off gambling addicts. This means RTX 4000 will probably be scalped from retailers upon release and sold privately way above msrp. People will pay 2-3k for them whether crypto is in the equation or not.

      • Definitely plausible. A huge pop of the gamers want the latest and greatest.

This is NOT worth it. A RTX 3060 12GB can be had for $585, its much better than this card.

Not true. Avg FPS at 1080p is 111.2 for 6600, 113.9 for 3060.

Not sure any ozbargainer would say 25% increase in cost for 2% increase in performance is good.

Most people nowadays have more than just a 1080p monitor. You need to look at least the 1440p performance, which is where the 3060 will outperform along with its extra 2GB of memory.

        I haven't gamed in 1080p for years.

It also has a much slower ray tracing performance.

Not sure any ozbargainer would say 25% increase in cost for 2% increase in performance is good.

Last I checked, maybe my maths is wrong, but a $16 increase over $469 is 3.41%. Not sure where you got the 25% increase in cost from. Maybe you got ripped off if you paid that?

For an extra $16, the 3060 12GB is well worth it. Much better value.

          ?
This is marketed as a 1080p card - most people buying it will game at that res.

Re the numbers - re-read your comment.
And if you do know of a 3060 for $485 post that s*** up son!

Just wanted to inform people of the bang for buck - it's significantly better than a 3060 at the advertised deal price it was.

        • Yeah, you might want to recheck your maths. $585 - $469 = $116

          • +1

@FireRunner: I don't know how you interpret that as bad math it appears to be a typo. Clearly left the 1 off

            • @Jimmy77: He’s arguing that the price difference ($469 vs $585) is only 3.41% so it can’t be a typo with the difference value. The only possible typo would be if he meant $485 instead of $585.
But I highly doubt you can get it at that price right now. Happy to be proven wrong though

              • -1

@FireRunner: But you didn't originally refer to the percentage. You referred to the difference between $469 & $585 as $116.

He clearly meant $116 and typed $16 by mistake. It's extremely daft not to realize that

                • @Jimmy77: I’m looking at his whole argument which includes the numerical and percentage difference, the error occurred in the numerical difference so I pointed it out. I suppose either one of two errors occurred
                  - He either miscalculated the initial difference and then his subsequent percentage difference was faulty
                  Or
                  - he made a typo in the initial difference then calculated the percentage difference using the number with his own typo
I’m fairly certain it’s the former case but either way it’s bad maths with an incorrect percentage difference used for his argument
