    $849 for the 9070
    $979 for the 9070 XT
    15% more expensive.

According to gamers nexus, the 9070 XT has a performance uplift of about 13%
So the 9070 has slightly better FPS/$

Also to consider, the 9070 is more efficient so you get savings in lower electrical costs and generates less heat, especially over summer.

Yup, I got the 9070 Pulse when it was $829 - it's also a smaller card too! Which was a massive consideration for me with ITX cases. I've set a -50mv voltage offset and its doing the rest itself just fine. Runs extremely quiet actually! I was surprised

      • +4

Honestly I would be torn between the two as an extra 15% is potentially another year I can wait before upgrading. OTOH being able to chuck this card in an ITX is a huuuge plus

I just checked the dimensions on mwave and both the Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 Pure Gaming and the Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT Pulse have the same dimensions. Not sure if that's an error or if both cards have the same form factor.

          320mm long, 120mm wide, 3 slots

Edit: just checked on the sapphire website and they have the exact same dimensions too.

@Mixhael: My comment was referring to the Pulse* non-xt, not the pure though. They're diff cards. The pure is indeed bigger.

The pulse non-xt is a dual slot pcie mount (more like a 2.5slot width, though)

            • @ReaperX22: PULSE AMD Radeon™ RX 9070
              280(L)X 120.25(W)X 51.5 (H)mm

40mm shorter and 10mm thinner. That's a nice size, would JUST get in a few ITX builds

Not sure i'd trust gamers nexus, used to before they took a policy of 'rewriting history', HUB is the best for GPU reviews. Bonus that they are aussie and often cover aussie pricing.

      • I haven't heard anything bad about gamers nexus yet, what happened with them?

From what I've seen previously they clearly show their methodology and go in depth in their analysis.

        • GN went off the rails in the last couple years and turned into a 'they're bad here's why' channel.. Sometimes flaming companies or other youtubers without the full story/context. Look up the LTT/GN fiasco. LTT definitely needed some accountability and to fix a bunch of stuff but GN also kinda just.. kept throwin em under the bus without full stories.

His long-form videos also got a bit boring to me.. I started to get real bored of his vids - dude loves to hear himself speak tbh.

HW Unboxed have a good level of detail/length! Usually that ~20min odd video vs 30-40 GN puts out, but better than the 10~m reviews that dont necessarily give enough info.

          • @ReaperX22: Okay personality issues aside, are their testing outputs good quality?

            • +1

@boozed: I think GN recently changed their review/testing method and atleast aims to provide as accurate results as possible.

For me their gpu reviews have been great as they are using the exact same card I am using for last few years.

Mostly around the "journalism" being quietly retired rather than admit their weren't doing it properly.

I was a huge fan of their reviews and thought they were good at pulling up other companies who were doing the wrong thing, often talking about their investigative journalism.
Then they just quietly rewrote the fact that they were doing journalism because they didn't follow those outlined rules and instead rewrote everything to 'customer advocacy" without any explanation, I assume because they didn't want to follow the standards and requirements outlined for journalists and instead forge their own path outside the rules.

It's a double standard to measure other companies moral standards when you are not fronting up to doing the right thing as well. Who knows what other errors have been covered up this way.
HUB on the other hand, pretty much come out and say when they have stuffed up or dig in further with research on issues.

@mordinhoz: Not sure what Louis Rossman has to do with this, I never mentioned LTT and I think GN was right to call them out, plus Louis a very rude man, despite what he does for consumers.

              • @thedean: You are referencing Linus's argument that Steve has to provide an opportunity for him to reply like a journalist would. Video I linked has a valid rebuke against that idea.

GN stated from the start they were going to treat LTT like any other big company. And they did.

                • @mordinhoz: I am not actually, I am referencing that GN was doing investigative journalism which i financially supported with Patron and GN Store support, only to find out it was quietly retired and instead is now "Customer Advocacy" meaning that I was not supporting what was advertised.

Basically I was bait and switched, which is something Steve calls out other companies for but he is okay doing?
Double standards. I mentioned above Steve was right to call out LTT initially.
Not all beef against GN is down the cultist line of one vs the other, Steve and GN are hypocritical by nature and their constant "fixing" their test methods also suggest this.

      • I'm very curious too. GN has always been and seemed pretty clean.

    • Such a bad trade off though given how minimal those diminishing returns are.

  • Shame its white, I'd like a model in black as well
