On sale is Lenovo's latest Android tablet designed specifically for gaming and comes in the size of 8.8". It's been a long time since a good spec'd tablet under 10" has been released, so this is a worthy NVIDIA Shield K1 successor. As a price comparison it's currently US$499 at Giztop ex shipping. A 12GB/256GB version is available too.

Before I get into the specs there's a few things to be aware of. This has only been released in China so there's no Global ROM and a global release has not been announced. It runs Android 12 (via OTA) with Lenovo's ZUI Theme, receives OTA updates, supports Chinese and English languages officially and Google Play is sideloaded.

Featuring an 8.8" 2560x1600 120Hz LCD Display with 500nits brightness, 100% DCI-P3 & HDR10 Dolby Vision, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB UFS 3.1 Storage (expandable), Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 CPU with Adreno 650 GPU & large heatsink, 6550mAh battery with 45W PD/QC4+ charging, JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos, 13MP rear, 8MP front camera, WiFi ax, Bluetooth 5.1 and weighs 375g.

That's probably going to be second last or last tablet deal I post for a while. Before anyone asks…. Widevine L1? I'm not sure and given it's the CN model I suspect it won't have it.

    • Appreciate your work, Clear. I'm looking forward to playing with the Lenovo P11 from one of your previous deals (once it arrives).

  • I thought this was getting the sd888?

    • It was rumoured to have the 888 before release but sadly not.

      • We are getting close to flawless 4k content streaming on a tablet.. Soon.

This is good progress didn't even hear anything about this or any tablet news on new releases lately.

There is hope after all :)

Maybe within our lifetime then low latency flawless 4k pc to tablet streaming will be doable in a nice slim 8 inch form factor.

Now only a good weight is the last hurdle. Let us hope they can fit what they need to achieve this in under 300 grams then I can die peacefully.

True bed gamer coming soon :)

        • Is there really much point in 4K om 8" device?

          • @Punkboy: Was gonna say, none of the manufacturers even have 4k on a tablet. Sony has some 4k phones but they're targeted towards pro use.

            • @krisspy: Yeah, people argue that there is no value for 4K on 27" monitor vs 1440p as you can;t tell the difference let alone a tiny screen.

          • @Punkboy: I know most people say there is no value but when I have looked at 1080p and 4k content side by side on a device I can tell the difference is sometimes not as noticeable but I can tell she really highly appreciate and prefer the higher resolution.

It is like much more clearer and visual clarity is amazing.

The details just pop out and refine themselves.

Honestly I hope they make an 8 inch tablet with proper native 4k capability and quality.

I am using a 2k screen now and even just going from 1080p to 1440p on YouTube is breath taking.

The image and video quality is night and day.

So going from 1440p to 2160p will be even more better as someone who games on a 4k monitor and experiments between 720p/1080p/1440p/2160p constantly.

        • I would think the game streaming limitations are more on the encoding side of things and network bandwidth when you're talking home streaming Eg. Moonlight /steam remote.

I've streamed Genshin on my 4 year old matepad M5 and it's perfectly playable. Yes there's some latency (around 30-40ms) but that would be way lower if my gaming rig was hard wired to the router. Quick read on the forums have people running under 10ms latency via Ethernet with the nvidia shield.

Not gonna be surprised if this would be the best 8" android tablet for a while. It's a dead market really.

Sadly yes this is a very niche market kind of like the Android TV market not much things happen in this space so I am not expecting anything 4k native in the 8 inch area any time soon.

  • looks like no GPS

  • Think I'll buy this and sell my iPad mini 6. There seems to be more adverts on my iPad than my previous tablet whilst playing games. Added to which one of the games I play Beach Buggy Blitz doesn't fit the screen.

  • Coming up with an extra $54.78 for VAT, which makes it $602.58. Also the ANNI30 coupon has expired.

Added extra coupons. The USD price is still the same.

      • Tried both Admitad30M and BESTC30M. Both came up - We're sorry, all promo codes have already been claimed

          • @Clear: Thanks, great effort and much appreciated. But I tried from the bottom up and ANNI13M was the best available. Bought it anyway. Just wait a month and I’ll sell my mini.

  • Can anyone who has this confirm if it does netflix 1080P or even 4K?

Or for Disney Plus, Stan, Binge, Amazon Prime.

Looking for an 8 inch tablet that can do streaming services at Full HD or 2K or 4K (Youtube).
