GyG - Hard Vs Soft Taco

I’m a hard shell devotee but they happened to mess up my order today.

And the soft shell seemed to include a hell of a lot more filling? Am I imagining this?

I prefer the spicy pulled beef nachos with all the extras on top (Coriander, jalapenos, onion) - So I don't know.

Soft taco is always much better imho. If I wanted crunch or a similar texture, I would get nachos instead. You should try the soft taco with the chicken filling.

I haven't eaten a hard taco in about 10 years, but why do people eat them at all? "Yes, I want a version that will fall apart when I try to eat it and is incredible inconvenient, thanks". I imagine the soft shell version had more filling simply because it's easier for the server to put more in.

I worked with a guy who made sandwiches on vita wheats then made a mess everywhere in the work lunchroom, his argument was that if hard tacos were fine then so was that.

I have a lot of strong emotions about tacos. Also, you should just get a burrito.

hard tacos taste better, but yes, the downside is that if you're not careful (or even if you are) it's probably going to fall apart.

the crunchy texture of the taco makes it better than a soft shell taco

Genuine Mexican cuisine that no-one in Mexico eats.

    • probably as close to Mexican as you can get for most people here, given the oceans between the countries..

My wife loves loved GYG breakfasts, but the last few times I have taken her there the serving sizes have been getting smaller and smaller, the food quality has dropped and for some unknown reason the long black coffees are now just over half full. I get that there is inflation but the serving sizes are down by close to 25%.

The very last time we went my wife ordered the churro toast and they put salt on it instead of cinnamon.

Won’t be going back for a while.

    Why not both?

  • My favourite is the Enchilada with spicy chicken and spicy roasted vegetables.
The hard shells are good at GYG as they are real fried tortillas, not the factory made old El Paso style shells you get at a lot of places.

    Porque no los dos?
