[Unobtainable] HBO Max via Argentina (VPN Required): Peso $399 (~A$4.82) Monthly, Peso $3499 (~A$42.23) Annually

Moved to Forum: Original Link

  • Edit #1 - Some users are reporting additional charges/taxes to their cards which are not quoted at checkout. I signed up a while back on a monthly plan and haven’t had any additional charges/taxes. It may be worth trying some other Latin-American countries via VPN for a price comparison.

  • Edit #2 - As reported by another user, it turns out there is now a 65% Tax On Online Purchases in Argentina as per this website reports - https://davescomputertips.com/argentina-imposes-65-tax-on-on…
I have connected to a number of other Latin-American countries via VPN for a price comparison but they all work out approx. $69 AUD for the year.
Apologies if the deal is not as good as I originally thought, it was posted with the best intentions.
    1 month = $7.94 AUD approx.
    12 months = $69.20 AUD approx.

The above gets you compatibility with all devices, use 3 devices at a once, High definition and 4K, Up to 30 downloads, 5 user profiles

1) Use a VPN to connect to an Argentinian server (I used Windscribe with no issues)

2) Open an incognito browser window.

3) If page is displayed in Spanish, change language to English at the bottom of the page next to the following text :

Política de Privacidad - Términos de Uso - Información - **Español (Latinoamericano)**

4) Create Account

5) Verify account email

6) Enter payment details, I suggest paying with a card that has no foreign exchange fees - (I used Macquarie Debit with no issues)

7) Enjoy!

Library content will depend on VPN used when watching, I use a smart DNS (DNS4ME) to view USA library, it doesn't matter which region was used to sign up.

    • Netflix turkey. You only needed the vpn when loading up gift cards for payment or when setting up payment type. Like bank card. But when watching you dont need to be connected to vpn.

    • As if anyone in Argentina will pay to watch steaming services, I'm sure the entire country lives on Steamio

  • Anyone try this with a ANZ Travel Rewards Visa?
The hold is showing ~$70. Wondering if they just grossly over compensate for currency fluctuations, but still seems a lot. Will have to wait until it posts.
Email invoice said Total: $ 3.499,00

    • +1

Same on 28 Degrees card - pending transaction is ~$69. The invoice (for $3.499,00) says, ‘ The additional taxes applicable in your country are not included in the gross amount, and will be reflected in your card summary.’

      • Ah yeah, agreed, had a feeling might be some hidden taxes which are region specific.

      • I paid one month with Ubank and the hold is $7.90, gonna see how much they gonna charge at the end

        • +1

Sorry guys, I signed up a while back and haven’t had any additional charges/taxes apart from what’s quoted at checkout. It may be worth trying some other Latin-American countries for a price comparison.

4k streaming via vpn to argentina…yeah sure…good luck with that

    • Can be VPN to US as well

    • RTFM

  • You have a typo in the title - 12 month subscription is 3499 pesos - not 4399.

    • Thanks updated

  • $42 + smartdns $52 = $94 per year

    • If you only use the DNS for this app and nothing else.

the page is displayed in Spanish, can't find change language to English button

    • See step 3 in the OP

  • Thank you!! it works well. I can also confirm that you just need to connect to a USA server to get their content. ps: using Nord!

  • I'd rather be researching via "journalistic" means to get my content

  • I was charged 69 :(

    • I believe that’s a VPN issue

Keen to share a login ID if anyone has a spare $$

  • so i have
    - netflix
    - prime
    - apple+
    - disney
    - paramount+

    do i need this ?

    • +2

Why not. Its like you are collecting the set anyway.

      • I got Netflix and Disney, I hardly even touch Disney as I've already watched all the marvel movies and famous Disney movies, nothing else interesting on there tbh

    • You need to collect YouTube too

      • Also it’s cheaper via Turkey too :-)

    • Can Apple+ be done via another region?

I thought that this was a good deal:

    https://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2022/02/24/hbo-max-launches-…

But the Argentine deal is slightly better.

Last month I signed up to HBO Max standard plan at $10US using a US VPN but I discovered the Netherlands deal about a week later, cancelled my US account even though I had about 3 weeks remaining and signed up for the Netherlands deal and have been using it ever since. A total bargain for about $6AU a month!

    • +1

Turkey will probably be a little bit better than
Argentina when it launches later this year :-) Just need to find cheap way to get Disney+ to work now.

  • Baratito, baratito, eh? Posta, que moneda del orto el peso.

  • +1

$69 annual standard plan. Not bad compared to $11 USD p/m plus states card fees. Thanks, OP.

  • Looks blocked from PIA. Errors out when i click subscribe

    • Same here. Can't even find where to change site to English lol

    Got charged 654$ARS 🙄

  • so is this deal not as good as original description then? cause they sneak in hidden taxes?

    • I note the 65% Argentinian tax makes this less appealing then, is there a cheaper option out there?

      • With tax like that, I dont think there's a legit subscriber out there.

        • +1

          Only the government

  • OP updated

    • thanks OP - good to confirm price about the same anyway

  • That'll teach me. Make sure I read to the end. Might want to put tax price at the top.

  • Charged me ARS 5738.36 ($69.26 AUD)

  • Does this get the ad free or the with ads version?

    • It’s ad-free.

  • I’ve been subscribed to the USA version for almost 2 years. A few problems I get.
    1. I USE smart dns and every now and then the website and app both refresh and say ‘A problem occurred’ or ‘Not available in this region’. Reopening the app fixes the issue.
    2. Incorrect password even though I’m using the correct password. This issue most of the time gets fixed by resetting the password but not always.

  • does anyone know how to install HBOMAX in apple tv, I can't find it in the app store.

    • You need to set up a US Apple ID and then add that account to your Apple TV which will allow you to access the US App Store and download the app. Further info here:

      https://support.liberador.net/hc/en-us/articles/360008937760…

      • Thank you, it’s worked. But I just found I can’t install NordVPN on Apple TV. …..

        • You need to use a smart DNS service such as DNS4Me or Getflix on Apple TV

  • CDC card work?
Must be some cheaper countries, hard to trust Argentina with the taxes , some services are alright though like yt premium

  • I shared this deal earlier in this thread but upon looking back on it I realised that I forgot to add some important details that I'll now list below:

"Launching on March 8 in the Netherlands, HBO Max is entering the market with the lowest subscription fee of any streaming service for people who sign up for the streamer in March."

"In its first weeks of operation, HBO Max Basic is available for €2.99 a month, and the Standard subscription is sold at €3.99, a 50% reduction of the regular subscription price of €5.99 and €7.99 respectively. “This is a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity,” said Christina Sullebakk, General Manager HBO Max EMEA, during a presentation in Amsterdam, “and people who sign up now will always enjoy a 50% discount on the subscription price as long as they remain a subscriber.”

I signed up for the €3.99 plan which equates to about $6au a month which I think is great value as it allows up to 5 profiles and let's you stream available content in 4K HDR.

This price is especially good for those that don't want to pay for a year in advance and from what I can there are no extra taxes etc….

Mods: If this works out to be the better deal, feel free to give it it's own deal post!

    • Edit: those prices are no longer available! 😢😢😢😢

  • maybe we should change the number in title? Monthly Argentine Peso $658, Annually Argentine Peso $5773

  • Wow that’s tax to die for

  • Merged from Argentina HBO Max Deal Unpublished…?

    Hi All,

Was planning on subbing to HBO Max through Argentina VPN as there was a deal mentioning it was $40 annually. When I came back to OzB to actually sign up… The deal has been unpublished and it says unobtainable…? What happened?? I didn't get to read comments or anything about it not working….. Any insight?

    Thanks!!

    • This deal is not published.
HBO Max - Monthly Argentine Peso $399 (~A$4.82), Annually Argentine Peso $3499 (~A$42.23) PLUS TAXES (VPN Required) (Unobtainable deal)

So you cant get em then.

    • +1

Plus tax. The total cost is around $69. Same as the Brazilian post which is active.

    • We have moved the deal post to the forum and marked it as Unobtainable.

  • +1

Unsure if there is a glitch going on,but I signed up via Argentina through Google Play and it only charged me $29.99 USD = AUD $42.35 for one year. Via Brazil it's USD $45.15. it's the standard plan and not the mobile one.

    • bonus

    • How did you order though Google Play
      International account?
      What device streaming on?
It's good when it's working (4k and Atmos) but the apps are dreadful (android and Google TV) but seem to be a lot of issues with the account or profile. Perhaps they are onto it.
Seems like if you purchased through a provider it is meant to work better.

      • could not connect. We're having trouble connecting to HBO Max. Try Again. (service code provided)
      • session timed out, sign in again
      • doesn't recognise email/password

      • etc

      not worth the trouble

  • My subscription just renewed for 5999.00 Argentine Peso ~ $42 AUD
