Deleted Deals - Keep Deal and Close?

I saw a deal on a Bissell spotclean, and purchased it from Amazon.

The deal is now deleted and I don't really know why.

Would be good if more information was provided, or the thread left but closed so comments are still visible.

Ie was it a scam? Is there something else wrong with it?

    Agree

  • End result was it was unpublished due to the seller not having enough feedback score. It was likely a scam.

I also agree as those that bought and didn't click back to the deal might still be oblivious.

    Agree

  • Reason is actually linked in the unpublished node. If you visit it, you will see the reason: Deal doesn't meet Amazon Au posting guidelines.. Most unpublished deals with a link to a reason provided.

    their store is 海口市钦蒙商贸有限公司.

    It was unpublished because

    • the items they listed for sale isn't fulfilled by Amazon (i.e it's not stored in Amazon's warehouse and it has to be shipped by the seller)

    • The seller has zero feedback.

Thanks - the link is generic info though - what you've just provided is more specific information.

    • Just to add to this - the item has shipped, and if the thread was kept open, anyone else that had ordered would be able to discuss and share their experiences on what they receive, and how we handle any issues etc.

We lose that ability when the thread is completely removed.

Even if these could end up moved to a different "node" - or even converted to a forum topic, so they don't show on the home screen - but those that had interacted previously can still see it and continue interacting. That would resolve a lot of the issues.

      • Maybe wait till you get the item… They could've given you a false tracking number, or the wrong item.

I wouldn't have risked a brand new store and that's why there's safeguards on here to prevent ppl getting scammed

That store doesn't have any items listed any more… Good luck

        • Yup fully aware, by the time I went to cancel, it had already been marked as shipped.

Which is why I've asked the question - to allow ppl that were similarly caught out to be able to get in touch with each other etc.

  • Agree.

Also deals may be closed for wrong reasons from trigger happy reporters. OP doesn’t get notified either to provide feedback.

Reports don't matter, it's up to the mods to make the call if/when a post is removed

It's happened to me on one deal I posted, not a good sample size but posting from my experience..
If mods are time poor or the process isn't right it may happen.

        • We will unpublish the deal if the deal poster hasn't provided enough information. Example: someone posts an in-store only deal from their mobile phone when they're out shopping at the supermarkets but failed to disclose which store they bought the item at, how much stock is left and where the store is.

Then the reports start pouring in as people hit the report button asking for the deal to be fixed
If we can't fix the deal because the OP provided insufficient details, it has to be removed and you'll have to TWAM us to give us more info.

@scrimshaw: My example was posting Costco deal and linking to the promo leaflet, then someone reports as the price online is different. So yes, in-store only should have been mentioned.

The issue is you don't get notified (I think, unless that's changed) and you feel like you have wasted your time trying to help people find a good deal. Which makes you not want to spend time posting deals.

If/When you eventually find out it's unpublished you TWAM and it's fine.
