S5 Max Price target is $500 so seems a bit rich…

    • HOW GOOD IS INFLATATATATION!

But seriously, Viomi S9 with auto-emptying bin or Roidmi Eve Plus would be the two best value and most viable options. (The latter of which i have and it works terrifically.)
Target for Roborock as you've said is the $500-$550 mark (it is a good, albeit dated cleaner now).

This is a rare find. A "Bargain" at Harvey Norman

This is just to get you in store, so that they can sell you antivirus and an hdmi cable with it.

  • This is such a good vacuum but the price is outrageous. Currently sitting here with an S5 and cannot justify the upgrade in any way. Even if buying new.

    • Is the S7 that much better? I always see the S5 Max mentioned as the best bang for buck but maybe I need to be open to the S7 too.

      • I haven't used both machines, so can't comment on the differences between them. But S7 works with the auto-empty dock station, whereas S5 Max doesn't (if the station is something that you're interested in).

        • I'm not interested in the auto-empty docking station for the cost differential. I had the S2/3 and was happy enough with the vacuuming being done and emptying it myself twice a week haha

          • @b4ttlecat: Same, got the S5 Max, and although would love an auto empty docking station, I cant seem to justify it for almost twice the price of what I paid for the S5 Max alone (or even for an extra $300 is too much given what it does).

      • S5 Max is a fantastic cleaner. Advantages of the S7 are mopping that actually works and the auto empty station (not cheap either).

        Very happy with my S5

        • Ah, ok. I never used the mopping function of my S2/3 so that doesn't phase me. I prefer to mop by hand and have it done properly when it needs to be done! Thanks for the reply.

  • Do any of these work offline with home assistant?

  • Hi guys,
Buyers beware. I got Roborock S50, after three years, within last three months span, I got Error 117(Left wheel) and Error 118(Right wheel). Both wheels need to be replaced. A wheel iteself costs at least $75 if you can manage to source the replacement. Just my 2cents.

    • You can get these extremely cheaply off AliExpress and are literally a drop in replacement with a screwdriver. Do you have a lot of hair caught in the wheel mechanisms?

I’ve had 2 S5’s for years and they work as new with regular maintenance.

      • Appreciated your reply. The one failed both wheels doesn't have much hair caught at all. My 1st Gen Mi robot just had a battery failure after 3yrs too. I bought a replacement battery off AliExpress and it's on the way.

Would you have any reliable shops you would recommend on AliExpress for robot vacuum parts?

        Thanks

I've been using the S5 Max for about 2 years now so will probably be holding out till the S7 MaxV Ultra with dock goes on sale to upgrade. Mopping on the S5Max is so m'eh.. would love a proper mopping function.

  • cheaper on ebay

  • S7+ is definitely one of the best vacuum in the market
    but just too pricy

I was originally planned to get S7+
but at the end bought the Ecovac T9+ for $999 (TGG during Black Friday sale)

    • Roborock is the king when they still in xiaomi umbrella, now the trying so hard to become I robot. With so many competitions they will be struggling.

S7 Max ultra is going to be much smarter able to avoid obstacles.

  • S7 plus has same price to Dreame bot W10 but the w10 is much more better than S7 plus in mopping.
