    It's been a while, Woolies!

  • +5

Still hodling until 30x points 😅

    • -1

I think we all are. Sadly, it might be awhile…

    • I thought this 30x is not possible because this Apple Gift Card is not the same as iTune Gift Card.

I think it only happen once and than all subsequence is just 20x.

      • 30x points is 15% off .. sometimes JB HiFi gift cards are 15% off too. It’s 20% off iTunes that doesn’t seem to be possible anymore.

    • -2

Hodl until Black Friday, my fellow OzBargainer!

    • Hold the line! Hopefully it'll happen again!

  • These gift cards can be used to purchase actual items, like a MacBook Air, right?

    • +2

      Yes!

    • +1

Yes friend. Just did it with the BIG W ones yesterday.

    • -3

Ha! Make sure you really want that machine before buying with gift cards, return for any reason including change of mind will ended up refund to your Apple ID account and unable to cash out.

      • +4

That's the same as any gift card purchase though, i.e. refund goes back to the original purchase method.

        • 'That's the same as any gift card purchase though' Not always.

          • +6

@DrRalph: Good luck finding a store that refunds a gift card purchase back to cash/debit card. It'll either be back to another gift card or store credit.

            • @KangaDrew: EB games did it once accidentally for me, for about $80. I was pretty surprised but happy.

  • +1

FYI: The 20x points promo is still running with Big W as well.

  • +1

Hmm pretty sweet deal, about 10% back in woolworths $. Thankyou!

  • -7

Sweet, can finally pay my tax bill.

    • +6

2020 called. They want their "joke" back.

  • I need an iPad for work. Can I claim depreciation if I pay with gift cards?

  • +1

So is this basically 10% off or not really since 1 Woolworths Reward point does not equal $1?

    • Yep, basically ~10% off.

      2000 points = $10

      • I’m confused… how is this 10% off unless you actually shop at Woolies?

You buy the gift cards, get Woolies points, that you can only spend at woolies? If I buy $2000 worth of Apple gift cards but I actually need $2200 worth, I have to wait for my points to come through to use them to buy the remaining $200? Is that how it works?

        • Well you need to shop at Woolworths to get the deal in the first place.

The points will arrive after 1-2 weeks usually. Then go back and buy the rest with the points. Or buy $2200 worth of gift cards and spend the points on your regular shopping.

  • Anyone know how much can be loaded onto Apple Account (It used to be $4,999) but I don't see that anywhere anymore.

  • Still haven’t got my points from $200 card I got last week at big w, had to put in a claim, says 4000 on receipt in app but not in total points yet.

    • +1

Took 2 weeks for arrive. Think it mentions that in the catalogue

      • Ok, maybe was remembering from the last flybuys deal they were instant.

        • Flybuys isn’t instant; they show up the evening after your qualifying purchase

          • -2

            @kerfuffle: well same day whatever

  • So buy this card and ask apple price match the jbhifi’ 10% off is the best way to buy an IMac

    • They refused my last price match. Stock in tight supply at the moment it seems.

  • What's the expiry on Apple GCs?

    • +1

Apple gift cards have no expiry date.

  • Can you use it online and any limits on number of cards that you can use in one transaction?

    • +16

      Can you use it online

Yes. You can redeem it at any Apple Online Store in Australia, including:

      • Apple Online Store: the one open to the general public
      • Apple Education Store: the one open to uni students and school/uni staff
      • Apple On Campus (AOC) Education Stores: exclusive Apple stores with generally deeper discounts than the Apple Education Store. I have linked to the Australian Education Union AOC portal, but there are other AOC portals in Australia (e.g. University of South Australia)
      • Various EPP (Employee Purchase Program) portals1: exclusive Apple stores that discounts some items not discounted on any other portal (e.g. iPhones, Apple accessories), but generally have worse discounts on Macs and iPads than the Apple Education Store or AOC Education Stores.

I should also mention that the terms and conditions of the last three portals make it clear only eligible individuals can access those portals, but I have not heard of a single case of someone being asked to prove their eligibility to Apple. Having said that, Apple reserve the right to ask for proof of your eligibility, so that is something to keep in mind…

Also, if you opt to click and collect an order from an Apple Store, you will be asked for ID, but it is merely to verify your identity to ensure it is you or an authorised person (and not someone random person) picking up your order.

any limits on number of cards that you can use in one transaction?

You can redeem a maximum of 8 Apple gift cards in one transaction on their online stores in Australia. However, if you want to get around this restriction, you can redeem some or all of the gift cards onto your Apple Account Associated Balance first (aka Apple ID Balance), then redeem this balance in the online checkout (alongside any gift cards and/or a debit/credit card, if required).

      Some other (unsolicited) advice:

      • You cannot redeem an Apple Account Associated Balance in a physical Apple Store, so plan accordingly.

      • You may not be able to pay for AppleCare+ on the Apple Online Store or after purchase through the Settings app, so you may need to walk into a physical Apple Store to purchase AppleCare+. As I pointed out in the previous point above, you’ll need Apple gift cards (or another accepted payment method) to pay for AppleCare+, as Apple Account Associated Balances are not accepted in physical stores.

      1. This link is not to an EPP portal, because I could not find a link to an EPP portal when I looked on Google for about two seconds, plus I’m not going to provide a working EPP portal link for fear of Apple shutting it down.

        Quality post, thanks for that.

So it seems pretty good then if you are (kinda) getting 10% off education store pricing right?

I know those him/her cards go on sale also but these can only be redeemed at JB etc. and even if you wait for a sale, pricing still may not be as good.

        • +1

It is not a bad deal if you can use it on the various Apple portals, especially since you can also stack it with Cashrewards whenever Cashrewards runs a deal on the Apple Education Store. The AOC Education Stores and the various EPP portals are always ineligible for any cashback from Cashrewards or Shopback, plus the Apple Education Store sometimes run exclusive deals with free/discounted AirPods with any purchase of specific Macs or iPads, so there are definitely ways of stacking Apple gift cards with other deals!

(Btw, Shopback specify on their page that you will not receive cashback if you use Apple gift cards as a payment method, so if automatically cashback tracking fails, you’re probably stuffed.)

You realise you can use those TCN/Ultimate gift cards to purchase Apple gift cards at JB Hi-Fi, right?

JB Hi-Fi treats them as EFTPOS/Visa cards, so you only need to tell staff that you want to pay by card. (Don’t say gift card, otherwise staff will select the wrong payment method, since gift card can only handle JB Hi-Fi gift cards.)

As far as I am aware, JB Hi-Fi does not automatically block you from using TCN/Ultimate gift cards when purchasing gift cards, and staff most likely won’t care what kind of cards you use.

Thankfully, some digging around in iOS 15.5b1 has revealed it may be possible to add your Apple Account Balance to Apple Wallet; so hopefully in the future you'll be able to use it via Apple Pay as a payment method in store.

  • Can't pay for these with a Woolworths gift card right?

    • Nope you can't buy gift cards with gift cards

  • Can I check out applying the month 10% off promotion from Woolies insurance?

    • Doesn’t look like it…
      Copied from WW:

What products and services are excluded from the 10% Offer?
The following products and services are excluded from the 10% Offer:
-Smoking and Tobacco products and accessories
      -Liquor
      -Gift Cards (including iTunes)

      • Thanks for checking this out. Otherwise it would be amazoning to harvest a 0.9 * 0.9 = 0.81 discount.

  • +1

Thanks OP and Wookie Monster. What a great stackable deal.

  • Just to make sure I haven’t missed anything, do the variable load cards qualify for this offer?

    • From T&C's

Variable Gift Card $1 spend = 20x Reward Point

      • Thanks RichardL, not sure how I missed that but thank you for confirming. Much appreciated.

  • +1

Confirming the variable cards. I bought 2 yesterday and got the bonus points instantly.

  • +3

I paid for the $100 GC at the self-checkout separately before buying my groceries. It took my money but said the card failed to activate and the attendant said to head over to the service counter to resolve it. I then paid for my groceries and used the 2000pts/$10 I had gotten from the GC purchase.

At the service counter, they refunded the card and then ran it through again as a new purchase, and had me scan my Rewards card. And I got another 2000pts from it!

    • +1

If only you’d bought more than 100$

  • i went to woolies yesterday and they said i can only purchase maximum $500 of Apple gift cards in one check out. and the T&Cs of this deal is one transaction per day. so if i want to stock up $2000 gift cards, i need to go to woolies 4 times in 4 days. is this the correct understanding? Thanks.

This is a bit weird as people in this discussion mentioned they bought $3000 in one go.

    • The $ limit are set by the store/manager. I suggest trying a different Woolworths.

      • wow good to know, thank you so much!

  • Has anyone had this stack with a Woolies points booster?
