What is so special about c1

    • +11

Self lit = perpetual energy if combined with solar panel

      • -1

LG should be sued for that bullshit marketing statement

    • +5

Last year’s model so on sale

      But a great OLED

      • +6

        U mean great OLD

        • +6

Sure, if you want to pay another $2k for the newer model that has very little difference

        • I offset one neg, I thought it was funny.

    • +8

The C1, and the upcoming C2 models are designed for grownups. The B1 & B2 models are special edition "Bananas in Pyjamas" themed models released by the ABC kids network, so more suited to the young ones. :)

    • Whats with the negs? I was generally asking a question since I dont understand the high price tags.

    • Thanks! I forgot to chuck it in description earlier 😅

  • +2

Great model really enjoying mine every day, will be interesting to see what the new models are priced at and how much big of a difference it's improvements are !

    Still rated best OLED https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/best/tvs-on-the-market

Built in Plex streams 4k HDR very nicely from my PC too

  • +2

I got the 65 inch tv a few months ago. Very happy with it.

Picture quality is great and menus aren't laggy which is nice.

I'd recommend it for anyone in the market for a new TV.

  • Appliance Central has updated their price to $4980. I've updated the linked deal in the op.

    • +1

Ask JB to price match it and stack with ShopBack gift cards, even better savings!

      • +1

        Good idea!
Might be able to get a better deal if you have a suncorp account as suncorp benefits gives you 5% off jb giftcards.

Take a look at the Ozbargain giftcard wiki to see what works best for you.

  • I wonder if the C1 77" will ever reach 4 grand range

    • +4

Very doubtful when black friday didn't even get low and new models are almost out stock probably is that great

    • +1

The Sony A80J 77" was 4 grand for education peeps a few days back so who knows

    • Doubt it. Will be unavailable before you know it.

  • Is C1 comparable to A80J?
It was around 4k on edu store yesterday.

    • i have the a80J and is a wonderful TV. The reason I purchase sony was it was on sale from GoodGuys.
from what I have read, if you are a gamer LG and if your media is Sony. Also, Sony a80J supports VRR

      • +1

Right A80J supports VRR with with the latest firmware update which was released March 2022.
No FreeSync in Sony though. But it is number 1 for movies.

    • Almost same except no freesync in Sony. C1 is 1% little better

      • -1

Freesync flickers on C1and isn't needed on a console that already supports Forum VRR

    • Sony uses LG OLED panel, I was told, plus I personally find LG has a better physical design and look very sleek, so bought the C1 65". I would buy LG G1 if the price is not much different.

  • This or an 85” X95J from Sony? Mostly watching movies & tv shows, will be in a lit lounge room

    • +3

If the window light reflections would hit where the TV is or a weekend mostly day usage, the Sony hands down.

If you view alot of stuff after work in the evening/night I'd still go for an OLED but that's just my preference.

      • Very well put

    • Nothing else compares to OLED. Love my c1, would not want to compromise even if that meant I could only watch movies at night. Fortunately the blinds do a good enough job to keep the light out.

      • +1

Only watching TV at night would be a compromise.

        • Not on quality ;)

    • X95j, X90j, QN90A are all good for well lit room. Personally, I am waiting for QN90B from Samsung.
      I would love to have C1, C2, G1, G2, A90J, A80J oleds but my family room has 6 windows.

      • +1

        I have the C1 83, G1 77 and QN900A 85”.
(Mod: Promotion Removed. "Representatives are free to participate in other posts as long as they don't: promote or link to their own store, website or products that they sell.")

They are all great TVs in different ways. Sometimes I prefer the oled. Others I want the QLED.
I’m actually picking up another 83 c1 for cheap as IMO the c2 isn’t worth the premium.

Still is WRGB OLED. Another 2 or 3 years it will be worth it. Technology hasn’t come far enough yet. If you can get a good deal on a c1. Take it.
There also will be stock shortages. When I ordered my c1 83 last year. Took 4 months to arrive. My QN900A took 7 months. Paid in April. Received in September.

Thanks op but hard pass for me, classic OLED is yesterday's tech. I'm holding out on a deal for a QD OLED 75er. Reckon I'll be in for a wait.

    • +13

Thanks for letting us know your plan to buy your next tv in 10 years time 😆

      • 😂 I like the new Sony a95ks, sadly largest is only 65". I'm hoping they produce larger panels next year. Prices on these are surprisingly reasonable.

    • +2

Yep, a wait and a half until it matures properly and yields are better.

      • Then new tech will be available and say the same thing.

  • +1

LG C1 77" $4995 + $55 Delivery @ TGG eBay - worth watching if any eBay codes become available, or just negotiate between few stores

    • It's worth not dealing with GG ebay

  • +1

decent historical price would love to see them under 4500 before the C2's hit, but after the $4000 edu deal on the a80j a couple of days ago nobody should buy this.

    • +2

The A80J deal was largely unobtainable, though.

    • Yes, I am keen to know difference between new models and this one. Not much details out yet.

      • Improved upscaling, improved brightness, it always only slight improvements which are noticeable if they're side by side

    • +1

Most people had trouble getting the edu pricing and couldn't activate their accounts to get it before it was pulled down..

    • It's 4500 when you factor in the cashrewards deal that's on today.

  • +3

The good guys have same price but cashrewards has 12% cashback today so that might help get some thinking over the line

  • QD-OLED coming this year.

  • Got it for $4800 delivered from Bing Lee Moore Park Sydney.
