  • the link is broken

    • Sorry, I realized after I posted it and I dont know how to fix it. Can someone or the Mod help me fix the link? Thanks

    • Thanks AzzaD

  • good price. it sucks to come with 0.3M Camera.

    • +3

0.3M camera is okay for 640x480 Skype chats. 64GB SSD however as the only drive however, might be a bit limiting. Once you installed Win7 and software you need there won't be much left, and I am not sure how easy it is to upgrade hard drives on those ultrabooks.

      • Opening the laptop will void warranty. An 1tb external USB is sub $100 that should solve it?

      • I regularly Skype someone with one of these and it's excellent. Great resolution.

  • The price is great for a very slick machine, but make sure you try out the keyboard for a while before buying. The one I tried a couple of months ago had massive problems, would miss one in 10 keys pressed.

    • Agree, tested it at JB it was crap.

      but..but..but!

You can use a Zenbook to cut Apples! That alone makes it worth buying.

      • Major selling point IMO :D

      • +1

but then i cant claim tax with the TRS cause i cant take this on an airplane ;)

    • You cant compare a ultrabook to a tablet.

Maybe compare it to a transformer prime with keyboard and this would run rings around it imo.

      Q: Can you find a UX21E-KX007V cheaper?
      A: No.

Q: Is your neg therefore valid?
      A: No.

Q: Is it worthy of making a polite comparison or suggestion for a better product vs. the price?
      A: Yes, please.

    • Considering Dick Smith- didnt "dump" this deal on ozbargain-

I think you might want to recognise that this is the cheapest going around… or post a link to a cheaper one.

all in all your post is confusing

I have to disagree. If they fixed the keyboard issues (and it might well have been a driver/BIOS problem only) then this little baby will be a much better deal than the entry level Macbook Air for example (RRP $1099).

4GB RAM with i3 should be on par with 2GB RAM and i5 for most real world scenarios.

64GB is little, but then it depends on what you want to do. If you take lots of photos on your trips (like me) you'd probably find 128GB or even 256GB too small. So just carry a USB drive with you… For OS and the applications I use 64GB is plenty.

Also your consideration is only about performance and does not take into account aesthetics of the device which Apple users are willing to pay through the nose for.

    • Trolls obviously aren't allowed in universities anymore.

PS - if you didn't get that, these are targeted towards students. If you don't like the mac OS then you're SOL finding a device that can last as long running full OS.

    • People want larger screens

They do not. I don't want to lug a massive screen through the airport. I have a desktop computer if I want a big screen. Same with all the other points you mention. This is a laptop, and it should be designed and used for portability. This is an excellent unit at a good price.

  • The Best anti theft software imho is prey @ preyproject.com
    Most imp it is FREE

    • …free for 2 years, I think…?

    • with prey, what happen if our laptop didnt connect with the wifi (no internet connection) did the prey still can trace our laptop?

  • the use of mini hdmi and mini vga is a pain

thats enough to make it a non starter for me

    • +1

Costs 5$ to buy mini hdmi on ebay :\ Then its plug and play? Not sure what the pain comes from?

      • -1

competition doesn't have it so i don't have to deal with this problem elsewhere

        i use multiple tvs

        • what lappy can you buy for this price, with these specs and portability that can run on multiple tvs?

        • +1

I am confused by your logic? If you use another tv, take the plug out and move it. Or buy enough plugs for your TV. I am sure you will have the same problem with normal HDMI plugs >.<

    • +3

Asus provide a Mini HDMI adater dongle dont they. Ditto the LAn adaptor.
Noen of the others do though

      • There you go. Problem solved.

  • +1

it does this when you try steal it.

    • The middle guy was lucky not to have his foot punctured! :-) Funny clip…

  • personally for $599 for a dual core " 4 threads", 4 gig of ram and 64gig ssd hdd. Its better than a tablet for sure…

and to the person who is waiting for the IVY FAIL cpu versions.. good luck with that, they run hotter and don't perform any better!

  • Damn back to 899
