Why? It's a coupon code available to all Neuron users and adds $5 credit to their account.

Use the codes HEYAU2 and HEYAU3 to get another $5 credit :)

My bad, thought it was a one-use thing

      • Codes cannot stack for a single ride.

        • +1

          Indeed. Good for multiple rides.

    • +2

I mean GP22 doesn't exactly lend itself to being a one time unique code

    at the F1 today

    Forza Ferrari!

Ta. Note, expiry April 16 on this one.

It took me $7 to go 2.5km in 15 minutes so I could get to my car at F1. That was lime and thatโ€™s better than Neuron so expect to pay more around F1. IMO not worth it. Snail pace for half the distance and then half way through it stopped working

Is there a way to choose which coupon is applied before your ride if you have multiple coupons?

Or does ur take the one expiring first or some other method?

    • It takes the highest amount first.

  • username doesn't check out

    • Proud to say I predate Neuron

      • +1

It would be an amazing effort to be posting on ozbargain if neuron predated you

    Thanks OP

  • Thanks very much ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

  • How far with a $5 credit get you on one of these scooters?

    • about 2.5km based on my usage in Canberra. That probably includes some slower 15km/h zones.

  • +2

As much as I love scooters, the price is ridiculous. $1 + 45cents a minute! Who charges by the minute.. if you went for a few hours ride would cost you $55!!

    • You can get a day pass for $15

      • Maybe different in WA, smallest day pass is 3 days and $25. Much cheaper I suppose.

The timer even starts before you put the helmet on and only stops once you lock the helmet back in

      • Genuine question.
If you BYO helmet and don't un-clip theirs, will it stop you from riding the scooter?

        • +1

I think there was an option to "use own helmet" or "use neuron helmet" that you can click on in the app before starting the ride.

          • @JHoliday: That is correct.
Interestingly, many ride these with the helmet on the holder and none on their head.

    • Borrowing one for a few hours at a time isn't the target usage, and you could look at multi-day passes that would give you about 90 minutes a day for a lot less than what you said.
As an alternative to owning a car then for trips of a few kilometres it competes very well against taking an uber. Walking is even cheaper. For long distances I would use public transport or borrow a share car. If you want to use a scooter regularly then you would have to balance up the cost of purchasing your own, the cost of maintenance, and whether or not you need the convenience of not returning it to the starting point. If you don't use it regularly then it is a lot cheaper than buying your own. For the 40 trips I've done since late 2020, it has cost me a total of $244.
That said, I notice they have brought in dynamic pricing, so it could be more expensive in the future.

I thought they were a waste of time too but I came out of a bar in Darwin late and had a 15 minute walk in the insane heat back to my hotel. The Scooter had me home in 3 and a half minutes and cost me around $2.50. I was very happy with it.

FYI in case it isn't obvious, you can still get a DUI on an e-scooter.

I live in NSW and was so confused why I hadn't heard of this before. Looking through the comments, it seems like this is a very useful rental scooter service which NSW needs.

NSW is so unaccepting of new technology that even private e-scooters aren't legal. They just want everyone to drive a car and pay them money :(

You're in a conservative LNP governed state. What do you expect?

      • I expect them to follow what many other locations around the world are doing, and introduce new laws to enforce this instead of fining people $4500 OR $2500 (if you're 'lucky').

The scooters themselves could even cost $300 and the fine would still be the same. At this point it's not even about legalizing it, it's about removing that over the top fine. This needs to change.

  • Coupon doesn't work?

    • Same, seems like it's expired

      • Yeah maybe it was a one day thing
