  • have no experience with Chrome OS - the kid does everything in google (gmail, google classroom, google meet, google docs) so seems like it might be ideal. But I'm old school Windows and Office myself and wonder about the limitations with this 'always on-line' approach.

    • Biggest thing would be non of your windows products will work unless they have an online / app version.

For kids this would be the ideal studying / personal device as it will do everything required without the clunkiness / flexibility of windows. It is always online yes but limited functionality still exists offline. For example apps will still work as long as they do not require a live connection.

I own this and you don't need to be online all the time. Of course that depends what you are using on it. Can't look up your latest email or check the latest YouTube video if you aren't. I reckon it's great. Most Google apps work and then the added functionality of Linux apps make it great.

    • You can use Android apps on Chrome OS as well. Not all of them though. The Edge browser for example.

  • can we install windows 10 or 11 easily on this ?

If you have to ask, probably not but then why would you buy a chromebook to install windows 10/11 on it.

    • You don't want to do that. Buy a Windows laptop

    • You can run linux on it.

My wife has this Chromebook - it's actually amazing for the price. The screen looks great, the keyboard is great the speakers are best in class at this price point. It flies through anything you might want from ChromeOS or Android apps too.

  • Backlit keyboard on this is nice too

  • Bought this for my parents who use it for streaming vids.

I didn't quite like the mouse pad - it was smooth to touch, but the mouse cursor seems to either be jumpy, or laggy.
Changing mouse settings didnt seem to make it smooth.

This is coming from a Dell and Samsung laptop that i have used for years.
But then attaching a mouse to the chromebook is fine.
