Patented Image Control Waveguide
Reveal impressive detail, ambience and depth in your mixes thanks to the groundbreaking JBL Image Control Waveguide. Originally developed for JBL’s flagship M2 Master Reference Monitor, this patented innovation ensures an acoustically seamless transition between the low- and high-frequency transducers and provides an immersive soundstage with precise imaging. Offering a broad sweet spot and neutral frequency response, JBL 305P MkII delivers a crystal-clear representation of your mix—revealing subtle details, even when listening off-axis.

Big Sound Out of the Box
JBL 305P MkII is ready for the most demanding production styles right out of the box. Dual integrated Class D power amplifiers, custom designed by JBL for each transducer, give you generous dynamic range for any project. From music production and podcasting to cinematic sound design or daily vlogging, enjoy the output and power you need to hear exceptional detail at any volume—even at peak SPLs. Simply plug in, power on, and start creating.

Tailored Sound to Fit Your Studio
The dimensions and acoustics of a room can have a major effect on sonic accuracy, and that’s why JBL 305P MkII lets you adjust the response to fit your studio. The new Boundary EQ attenuates the low-end boost that can occur when you place monitors directly on the desktop or near walls. The 3-position HF Trim switch allows you to adjust the high-frequency response of the 305P MkII to tailor it to room acoustics or personal tastes.

Flexible Connectivity
Offering both balanced XLR and 1/4″ TRS inputs, and adjustable +4dBu/-10dBV input sensitivity, the 305P MkII offers flexible, professional connectivity options to provide easy setup while maintaining your signal integrity.

HIGHLY recommend these, sound so fun yet so accurate, don't know why they're so cheap tbh

    • This is a couple of $ more than the usual discount and definitely not the cheapest, but would still pull the trigger if I was in the market.

I use a pair for near-field listening at the desk and they sound great, hard to beat at $400 for a basically ready to go setup. They have good bass extension for their size and the waveguide results in excellent imaging and directivity, meaning they are likely to sound pretty consistently good in most rooms.

The two major downsides are the looks/build — not terrible but they're obviously made to a price — and the tweeter hiss, which is noticeable at idle or low volumes when near-field. I find that it mostly fades into the background after a while though, and it doesn't usually irritate me.

  • Honest question, how do you connect this to TV?

    • It depends on what outputs for sound your TV has? If you let me know I can recommend the cable.

    • If your TV has an analogue out (e.g. most have a 3.5mm), you can grab an appropriate cable that terminates in twin 6.3mm TS (mono), one for each speaker. This will be unbalanced (not an issue for short cable runs), and the quality will depend on the quality of the TV's output, but generally should be fine. Upside is that you should be able to control volume directly from the TV interface.

If you only have digital out, you'll need a DAC/preamp (probably connected via SPDIF) and then cables depending on the DAC's output (e.g. 2x RCA to 6.3mm TS if you're going non-balanced, or XLR for balanced). Volume control will be done via the DAC/preamp.

    • Connect them directly to the headphone socket - you'll need a headphone to RCA cable 👍
