  • How do we know if we have mite dust ?

    • -3

      with a microscope

      • Wouldn't that be scopemicro JV?

    • +5

Its fair to assume you mite have em

      • +1 from me lol

  • +2

Genuinely would like to know the effectiveness of this since I have a family member who is allergic to dust mite.

    • +2

I'd not expect it to be effective, but I have not used one to be sure. Replacing carpets with a hard floor certainly helps.

      • +1

Yep, we did that and overall health improved

Don't have the source at the moment, but I saw a program by a pediatrician before. Summary is that they're not very effective.

The "intent" is that these devices have little motors that pound the mattress/carpet and disturb/loosen the top layer dust mites. The UV lights kill them, then the vacuum sucks them up. Less dust mites leads to less dust mite poop, which is the actual allergen.

Reality is that the motors do not disturb the mattress enough, the UV lights don't kill off enough dust mites, and the vacuum doesn't have enough suction. You still have heaps of dust mites deeper into the mattress, and your body is shedding a lot more dead skin cells which feed more dust mites.

      Things that you can do:
      * Replace fabric furniture with leather/vinyl/plastic/metal
      * Replace carpet with hard floor
      * Use total mattress / pillowcase encasement - these are super fine protectors enough to block dust mites, meaning that they can't go deep into the mattress or pillows

      • Thanks @kevorulez for the info. Save me from buying it :-)

TBH I thought the device was for mattress only, didn't know that is for carpet as well.

  • Is this unit for removing “Dust mites” or “Mite’s dust”? Are they purposely reverse the wording?

Anyone bought this before and can give a review if is good or not please?

  • Is this a mitey good deal?

  • +6

I bought this a few months ago from AliExpress and it literally blew up after 3 uses.

It has a temp cut out feature which means when it gets hot, the motor doesn’t run but the front vibrating plate keeps making noises.

AliExpress rejected the warranty since the front plate was still vibrating and it was “working” according to them..

    PayPal covered the cost.

Moral of the story - Use PayPal for purchase protection

    • Thx for your review, saved me wasting $60!
