Not officially PS5 compatible according to Sony's spec of 5500 MB/s sequential read, this does 5000.

    Might still work though.

Yeah it 99% will work, but not the same speeds as the internal.

I have one and it works great.

Slower drives work fine. There might be some game in the future where loading textures in real time has a visible lag but it certainly doesn't exist yet.

    On umart spec sheet

    Sequential Read speed

    Up to 5000 MB/s

Up to 5600 MB/s (read speed test result by PS5 M.2 evaluating process)

    • Yes the Umart data is straight from the Gigabyte Spec page, so Gigabyte have obviously retroactively validated it.
I have one and can confirm it's accurate and has been trouble free in my PS5

Amazon is matching the price but in back order:

how do you get the same price on amazon? if i click on other buying options i see much higher prices

      • +1

        The backorder status is gone.

  • Wow amazing price….been looking at this one for awhile

  • It's getting close to me buying a drive for the ps5. $250 is in sight!

    PS
    Sequential Read speed

    Up to 5000 MB/s

Up to 5600 MB/s (read   speed test result by PS5 M.2 evaluating process)

Which means this is perfect for PS5

    just get a 980pro or SN850.

  • As crazy as this sounds this works faster than an Evo 970 Plus in PCIE 3.

  • hi can i use this for ps5 ?

    • +2

Are you joking? There's 3 posts confirming this. esl?

  • By looking at this picture I thought this was a deal for some sort of waffle snack.

  • Is the included heatsink good enough for PS5?

  • +1

For the extra $30 + del I'd still gor for the SN850: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08KFRFL8F/ref=ppx_yo_d…

    • Absolutely… I picked up the SN850 2TB for $344 and would recommend along with the 980 Pro.

  • Darn. Stupid afterpay. I paid $373 on ebay using afterpay some time ago. I presume I can't lodge a price protection claim with 28 degrees because of this.

    • +1

If you paid with your 28 Degrees card you can. I've done afterpay and Latitude pay claims. I usually just mention in the description that I paid using Latitude Pay starting on x date.

This drive is utterly unresponsive at basic OS tasks. Despite benching very highly, it takes fricking ages to think about what files are in a directory, particularly video files (if you ever back up your phone for example). Is that an issue for other people with this/other nvme drives?
