  • $18.91 !
    You funny boy James :D
    Nice price !!!!

    • haha.. Glad you like it.

  • +2

Another funny thing is… in the Banner up top on their web site it say Free Delivery..

    like What The ….

    • -1

yeah, I hear you. But, this deal, just for OzBargain is a basement price for coffee and the delivery is listed separately - that give people that wants to buy in larger quantities the benefit of a low base price. Delivery for this deal only is quoted as extra at a capped rate of $12 per order. I have tried to make that clear, but I understand what your saying. Thanks.

  • +4

http://www.byronbeans.com.au have free delivery till the end on May.
So 1kg of byron beans is $28.95 compared to $18.91 / kilo +$12del = $30.91 (even through as mentioned they do have Free Del anywhere in Australia?? looks like the normal sale beans incorporate the delivery cost in the pricing)
If you and buying a LOT of coffee well they do get cheaper)

    • Different kettle fish (Aussie beans vs imported and roasted local), but thanks for pointing that out. It does help compare the standard shipping costs of each! ($5.50 @ byron, and $12 for baybeans).

    • Yes, you're right. The more you buy, the more you save. thanks.

      • "The more you buy, the more you save" That's my wife's favorite saying.

  • Might want to change the wording on your website chief! States FREE DELIVERY, then paypal adds $12.

    • -1

This ozbargain only deal does not participate in free delivery for normal store items. Deal updated earlier this morning. Thanks.

      • Then sell this under a different name:
"Bay Beans does not charge an extra fee for delivery"

        • -7

Are you serious? If you really beleive what you are saying, I will expire this deal for everyone.

I think you're barking up the wrong tree here. This is an ozbargain only offer, and a pretty hot one too. You pay $12 for shipping with this offer. Not negotiable.

I will not be changing the website or this offer further. It's pretty clear now I hope. You do not get free delivery on this offer.

        • Answer me this: Why not say 30.91 delivered?
It's still cheaper than your normal price… to me, this is simply advertising and making it up on postage.

        • -5

@mbroere. Your wrong on this one. The offer is the offer and of course it's advertising. You think I do it for fun?

        • +9

This site is for bargains, not advertising.
Nor is there any need to be rude…

        • -2

          Oh noes. ;-)

  • Sorry James. Your banner is backed up by your shipping policy (http://www.baybeans.com.au/faq.html#shipping)… No deal here. Simply dropped the price and make it up with shipping.

  • -1

No free ship on this deal.

  • +4

    Tough crowd huh.

This is a good deal for bulk orders. $12 capped shipping vs pay shipping included in the price of each and every bag. I know which I'd prefer.

This deal is pretty much the same as the other $25/kg shipped min 2kg deals bayBeans has done. They were good deals, and so is this.

    • Thanks stumo.

The deal gets even better for all those peeps that were asking for more than 2kgs and also allows someone to buy in at $30.91.

  • -2

    $30.91 - This "deal".
    $34.70 - Normal price.
    $3.79 isn't much of a bargain…

"Free Delivery (Anywhere in Australia)" on main page banner and then there is this "Bay Beans does not charge an extra fee for delivery" but charges anyway. Make up your mind.

This is no deal, it's made up with shipping.

    • +1

so, save $3.79 on a one kilo purchase, or save $66.95 on a 5 kilo purchase. Save even more with a larger purchase.

      Make up your mind.

      • Wow, do you speak to all your potential customers like this?
I would advise against it, you can get quite a bad rep for that sort of thing. It won't help your business at all.

        • +1

do you speak to all your potential customers like this?

no, just you, and I am not intending to be rude - I hope you understand. I have made the deal as clear as I can and you seem to not be looking at the details of the deal, or are ignoring them, or whatever it is your are doing for whatever reason. thanks.

      • who wants to have 5kilo of beans sitting around it will take forever to get through them. 1kg is already alot. i usually buy 250g and it last 2 weeks.

        • +1

only buy as much as you need for a reasonable time. don't overstock yourself if you only use 500g/month.

        • group of friends. A heavy coffee drinking family. A small business (not a cafe, but somewhere that likes to offer customers decent coffee). Plenty of reasons people might want more than 1kg at a time.

  • +1

yeah $3.79 is not a bargain. this price with $5 delivery would have been ok.

    • get two kilos and you end up with coffee @ $18.91 plus $6 delivery per, or buy 3kgs and you end up with $4 delivery per..

  • For anyone else that is interested in this deal. I might need to mark this deal as expired early. Ending the deal early to save people the confusion around delivery costs, thanks.

Please let me know in the comments if you think it should be marked expired, or kept active. thanks.

    • +1

then you'll just get the other idiots complaining they didn't get a chance to order by the 17th.

I didn't see it without the clarifications, but now it's pretty clear that the normal free shipping doesn't apply to this.

  • +8

Sounds like a few folk didn't get their caffeine hit this morning.

  • $3.79 is about 10%, and that in my books, is a enough of a bargain. (i save as much with 4c petrol dockets)

    • Slightly O/T… i purchase my petrol elsewhere as I:
      - don't want to spend extra at woolies/coles for a docket
      - refuse to drive further just to get to a coles/woolies petrol station
      - would like to keep the market competative.

      • +3

That comment qualifies for a free cool story bro! :p

        • +1

As long as i don't have to pay postage for the ;)

    • Thanks.

    • touche.

Ordered for me as I'm keen to try the Baybeans roast out, however on some of the comments about treating potential customers - I think it's borderline at the moment! May be worth seeing some of the other threads where reps post actively, often feedback is taken on-board directly to create further good will.

Having said that, I don't think the rep has much else to prove, it is a bargain at this price - I think the delivery cost is just rubbing people the wrong way since it's normally 'free' for standard purchases.

    • I got in bad shape and found it difficult to come back from it.. I hear what your saying about delivery - I will keep that in mind for next time. Thanks for your support.

  • +1

I think this is a bargain price. In future probably make it simpler $50 for 2kg and bigger discount for more. I was a little taken aback when I read $12 for delivery, but realised it was a good price until I did the maths.

    • Yes, I think your right. I will keep that in mind for next time. thanks, James.

  • +1

    Impressive service.

I made an order, used paypal, stuffed up the postal address.
Emailed Baybeans and within minutes (on a Sun night) got it fixed up.

    Big +1 from me.

(Cant wait to get these beans as I have been wanting to try for a while, ths deal made it impossible to resist!).

    • Thanks. I needed to redeem myself from my narky Sunday morning attitude ;-)

  • +2

Despite the postage arguments this is a good deal. We have tried four varieties from BayBeans and like the Espresso Master best. Would have ordered on this deal but prefer Espresso Master over Forte.

James has provided great service in the past, even helping me to change varieties after I had purchased. Previous courier deliveries have been slow to Perth, taking over a week.

    • Thanks. I will put together a deal for Espresso Master next time, with free delivery :-)

  • -1

High postage cost makes this mediocre value at best, buy hey plenty of suckers will buy into it.

  • +1

Postage seems to be a pain point.
    but, it's not a profit item, just incase you didn't realise;
    http://shop.auspost.com.au/shop/parcel-post/sku/0590826

But, curiosity has me; why is it mediocre value? This sells at shop fronts and cafes for $35, it's here for $18.91. You'd be doing well to pay $18.91for supermarket Vittoria on special.

  • +2

Yep, this thread is a typical example of what's going wrong with OzB nowadays. A few egocentric people having a superficial look at what's being offered, not doing the math or thinking that maybe others have different needs to them; then whining & making specious comparisons to…well, anything it seems!

News Flash: If you expect every deal to be a fire sale kiddies, pretty soon you'll have exactly two options for your coffee…Coles & Woolies! If you can think big-picture enough, then you can apply this logic to any deal. Here you have a small business making an OzB only offer with incrementally escalating savings for progressively larger orders, starting with $3.79 off the usual price for a single kg. WTF do you want, do you need the guy to pay you to take his coffee away for it to be considered a bargain!

Being pedantic over a one-off exception to the usual free shipping arrangement, then getting all indignant over the natural consequence of retorts by the OP doesn't help either. Boo-hoo, you give the guy a serve & then when he quips back…suddenly he's the bad guy…grow up OzB'ers!

    • Very well said and a great summary.

I am not proud of quipping back, even though it was through frustration.

      • -1

We all have our moments, don't worry. ;)

I'm know I shouldn't be getting on my high-horse either, but you've only got to read some of the idiotic complaints here & compare them to those on this bargain posted by ozpete: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/69560 & see they're basically appearing everywhere to know OzB is deteriorating.

The petty, pedantic, specious arguments over simple stuff is going to be what deters businesses from offering, not the fiscal cost aspects of doing the deal; not to mention the grilling of innocent posters of bargains. We all lose then, retailers, bargainers & the community in general. It's gotta be hard to foster goodwill when you have people abusing you…on a Sunday no less!!!

How come only Coffee.com.au can afford to have free shipping? I buy beans from them, they ship from NSW to VIC here for free. $8.75 for 250g is not bad with shipping included. 1kg is too much to buy at once as 250g lasts me close to a month.

    • I think this is a case of your not seeing the detail. Bay Beans normally offer free delivery on all products, all the time, its just this OzB deal that delivery is separate so if you buy more, you get more discount. this deal was discussed in the forums before being offered here.

      but, for fun;

these guys seem to offer free delivery on their coffee beans and their price is good too - $34.70 per kilo
      http://www.baybeans.com.au/buy-coffee-beans.html

      they also do subscription coffee that saves even more;
      http://www.baybeans.com.au/coffee-subscriptions.html

or if you want to go bulk, get 40% off when you buy 10kg
      http://www.baybeans.com.au/wholesale-coffee-beans.html

or you can buy it in this deal.. as an example, if you were to buy 3kgs, that's $22.91 /kg delivered (free)

    • How come only Coffee.com.au can afford to have free shipping?

How come my face just struck my palm? :o

  • +1

I think your coffee is the best, I purchased before, it's nowhere near the supermarket quality.
But I wish you offer smaller packaging, like 250g, with a fairer shipping fee.

Perhaps introduce the smaller package, but customer must pay shipping unless purchasing 2 or more.

The reason is 500g or even 1kg is a lot, for most people it will expire before they finish them.

    What's the expiry date anyway?

    Thanks!

    • I like to not charge extra for shipping on any products, and this thread certainly re-enforces that. So, a smaller bag size isnt viable under that model. But, you can get 500g for $18.63 delivered here;
      http://www.baybeans.com.au/coffee-subscriptions.html

Thats around the same cost, or less, for what you will pay for half as much product elsewhere.

Heres some information about fresh roasted coffee beans and freshness.
      http://www.baybeans.com.au/faq.html#freshness

      • I ordered my first 500g from James last month and I am not no connoisseur but can tell the different between good coffee and not so good coffee… I got the Forte blend and it was really good, better than the GJ blend (BLOODY EXPENSIVE) I was using previously on my home espresso machine…

I cannot complain about the price as the supermarket packaged coffee is rubbish, Gloria Jeans grind/beans -> too expensive!!

        Thankyou James

  • +2

The coffee from Bay Beans is excellent & I highly recommend it. This is a great deal if you order 2 more kgs - works out at $25/kg delivered (& less if you order more obviously). This may be a lot for some, but you can always order for workmates or other members of the family to make it worthwhile. If you dont use that much, dont order it - its not compulsory!! There are lots of deals on Ozbargain that are in greater quantities than I want, but I dont sook about it!!
Keep up the offers James & pls dont take it off early.

    • thanks. the deal is staying now that the details have been clarified. Glad your enjoying your Bay Beans coffe.
