  • is the push up bar metal or plastic?

If you're looking to save yourself $15, you can do push ups on the, you know, floor.

A rather uninformed opinion. Firstly, the push up bar is designed to be easier on the wrists. Years of fitness training and push ups has been known to damage and injure the wrist muscles and tissues. Many professional athletes testify to the effect that the push up bars have on minimising strain on your wrists.

Secondly, the push up bars act to increase your elevation. The effect of which is that you can perform deeper and lower push ups. This is great for those without expensive bench-press equipment. Deeper wide-set pushups greatly emulate the benefits of bench-pressing. In fact, it's a great exercise for those trying to shape their chest regions - including the pectoral muscles. It makes for an all around harder exercise than your standard "floor" pushups - something your body easily acclimatises to.

You can do them on your knuckles as well, you just need something to cushion them against a hard surface.

You left out the part about how moving your own body weight through space promotes greater neuromuscular activation than the same level of resistance in a static body position! ;)

You can hammer a hole into the floor.

        • It's worth noting that Chuck Norris just pushes the Earth away from him, and allows it to come back for each rep! :p

StewBalls: You may or may not know that it's actually pretty much true. Just difference in reference point. lol.

        • Aha, you are absolutely correct blahman, the science of physics comes back to haunt us always! :)

Hmmm… so push up bar wasn't a typo?

So, a dyslexic man walks into a bra…

This thing also doubles as a push up bar!

I have both this bar and the handles. The bar is no way near as good as the simple handles, you won't get the extra deep pushup with the bar.

    My gym should get these.

  • +9

    "If you've got a floor, you've got a gym!"

    • +3

Yeah exactly, you can just rip out those tiles and start lifting a few pounds of weight.

  • The kettlebell set seems like a good deal, but from what I read, more suited to a woman.

"In his essential book, “Enter The Kettlebell,” the guru of Russian Kettlebell training, Pavel Tatsouline, provides a rough guideline for men based on the bench press. If you bench press less than 200 lbs. start with a 16 kg. If you can press over 200 lbs. start with a 20 kg. If you are unusually strong (strongman or power lifter) you can probably get away starting with a 24 kg."

Now come on, own up: how many of you wimps can't bench press 200 lbs?

  • was looking for these. cheers!

    ROFL

Am about to purchase one :) Hopefully it'll encourage me to get cracking again.

I'd recommend changing your slider so that it doesn't change on hover (over the numbers) and that it's not such a drastic transition. Can look fairly terrible at times.

If your good you can do push ups with only one hand… And if better with one finger or just the thumb.

  • No free shipping for the kettle balls :(
