[XB1, XSX, PC] LEGO Marvel Collection $35.98, LEGO Harry Potter Collection $24.72, Halo Masterchief Collection $19.98 @ Xbox

190

I know Halo Masterchief Collection is on the Gamepass but thought $19.98 was a good price. https://www.xbox.com/en-au/games/halo-the-master-chief-colle…

Marvel Collection is pretty good at $35.98 (I know it's been cheaper before) and I got that to replace our old 360 versions which don't work on the XSX and the kids love. https://www.xbox.com/en-au/games/store/lego-marvel-collectio…

Lego Harry Potter collection = $24.72 but that's also available at Big W for $25 currently https://www.xbox.com/en-au/games/store/lego-harry-potter-col…

There seem to be a bunch more like various Witchers, etc. but I'm not sure if they're decent prices or not so leave it to you all…

Main link to sale is on the deal and here: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/promotions/sales/spring-sale

You can filter by largest discount, price, format, etc.

URL says spring sale but title says Autumn sale …. guess it's all northern hemisphere ;-)

The Lego Harry Potter Collection is $7.99 US ($10.80 Aus) Marvel Collection is $11.99 US ($16.21 Aus)

For those who know how to buy from US store.

    • For those that don't, is there a quick dummies guide ;)

      • It involves buying gift cards on US Amazon and having a US address. then changing Xbox to US region and redeeming the gift cards.

Lego games particularly are discounted far more % wise in the US then anywhere else. Warner who own TT games who make the Lego games must have some agreement in the US that doesnt persist outside of that country.

        • Have you got any more info on this?

I'd assume I can just use a US VPN to buy the digital code on PC, and pay via PayPal. I shouldn't even need gift cards or a VPN to activate, unless I'm missing some critical info?

Getting non-local Games with Gold just requires switching the website locale, so I'm not even convinced I need a VPN yet…

          EDIT:

I just changed the website locale to en-US and then bought it at $11.99 USD via my PayPal account. Only hiccup was asking for an address (I added a random USA address) but otherwise it just worked. Downloading to my Xbox now without any further fiddling.

doesnt seem to work for my paypal :/
get a "region in which your payment option was issued and your Store region need to match"

Cant seem to buy a amazon GC from amazon US either for some reason :/

            • @SBOB: Weird. That's the result I was expecting though.

This was on my AU account, with AU addresses for all except the US billing address. I added Paypal separately via account.microsoft.com without any issues beforehand.

Buying via https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/lego-marvel-collectio… which charged my account in USD.

              • @Switchblade88: Cant seem to see where i link paypal to any US billing address.
Tried to grab a gift card via amazon.com but now its stuck in pending :/

            • +1

@SBOB: I ran into the same issue. I even purchased Xbox 'US region' GCs (through offgamers.com, not Amazon) but couldn't redeem them under my 'AU' Microsoft account due to region mismatch.

Since I'd already purchased the GCs at that point I created a new Microsoft account, selected US region and redeemed the GCs under that new account. I got 2 x USD$20 GCs for USD$39.23 (paid via PayPal through offgamers.com) with which I was able to pick up:

I then signed into this new account on my Xbox (as a secondary sign-in) and was able to see/install the games under that account as well as my primary sign-in. A bit messy, but problem solved.

That should keep the kids busy for a while!

              • @phoxymoron: You could have changed your Xbox region to US on the console then bought them on your original account.

                Its what I do.

                • @Noddy Doldrums: Thanks, I might try that next time. I almost never buy stuff through the Xbox itself as it's easier to do from phone/PC. I figured the region limitation was tied to the Microsoft account (so changing region on the Xbox itself wouldn't have helped) but I guess I was wrong :)

                  • @phoxymoron: sorted. Thanks for all the tips.
Amazon GC came through after I messaged them via support
Changed MS account profile to US via web
                    Purchased game via web
                    downloaded via xbox.

                    • @SBOB: can you change your region back to AU right away?

are there any negative implications from changing your region to USA?

                      • +1

@yacman: I do it fairly regularly on the console. Never been a problem.

Setting your HOME console is a different story . Certain amount of times you can change that in a year. Not sure….maybe 5?

                        • @Noddy Doldrums: thanks, I wouldn't need to change that, just the region to take advantage of these deals haha

                          • @yacman: I don't use paypal. Never worked for me. I know some people do and would be slightly easier for me if it did. I use gift cards from Amazon. I have a US address for Amazon in a state with no sales tax. Oregon I use. I simply googled Ikea in Portland Oregon and I use there address. Nothing is going to be sent there so it doesnt matter :-) .

              • @phoxymoron:

with which I was able to pick up:
                Lego Games Bundle - $14.99 - https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/the-lego-games-bundle…
                Lego Marvel Collection - $11.99 - https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/lego-marvel-collectio…
                Jurassic World - $4.99 - https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/lego-jurassic-world/B…

thanks.. added these also to the kids list for cheap :)

                • @SBOB: How much is the saving of you buy the Lego games via US store compared to AU

                  • +1

@Twisty: Was like half the local price.

                    • @SBOB: Ahh so it’s well worth doing

                      • @Twisty: So what is the easier way to do this?
Do I need another account on my Xbox or can I just change the local to US and purchase under my gamer tag ?

                        • @Twisty: For me
Buy Xbox gift card via Amazon us.
Then all via web, login to ms account , change region to us, add usd Xbox gift card, then go to Xbox store (en-us region) and buy game.

Once bought just install on Xbox via game store as if will show as owned ( or install vi web if your Xbox is setup for remote install)

                          • @SBOB: So I can’t just change local to US and buy via paypal?

                            • @Twisty: Via PayPal didn't work for me as it identified that PayPal was not based in the same region as my profile (ie profile us, PayPal au)

PayPal might work for you, as it did for someone above, but did not work for me

                              • @SBOB: I will give it a shot tomorrow

                                • @Twisty: Tried it and it didn’t work
I added a us address and used PayPal but no go and now I can’t remove the damn us address from my address book. I can only make my original address the primary one

Any idea how to remove it? It says it can’t be moved as it’s used for stuff???

  • Why is this sale at the end of the school holidays?! (QLD), I paid more than double that for lego incredibles a week or two ago

    • I believe Xbox is pretty responsive to price drop complaints.

    • Lego Incredibles is currently $8.99 US which is $12.15 Aus. It may have only gone down last Tuesday , the second week of the Spring sale.

  • +2

The sale actually started almost two weeks ago.

    • Must've been just after I looked, because they definitely weren't at the start of the school holidays.

      • +2

Xbox have sales that start at 10am every Tuesday.

  • a lot of games on sale are available on PC, too

methinks Code Vein deluxe for $26 is a great deal

    on the Gamepass

Seriously how hard does game pass S L A P?

  • I must admit - I know the internet has a website for everything but this made me laugh:

    https://www.bestrandoms.com/random-address

    random US address generator

just used this to add Paypal for US purchases on my MS account

thanks for the tips everyone - I'd already bought the Marvel collection before I created the thread, but I will buy a few more for the kids from the US store
