Aupost Keeps Delivering Parcels/Letters to The Same Wrong Address (3.5km Away from My House) What Should I Do?

In the last three years one of the five parcels/letters were delivered to an address about 3km from my home😅. I know our street names spell similar but mine is a Court but the other is an avenue. It keeps happens in Point Cook VIC and the whole street Neighbours now share similar experiences and inconvenience of getting their stuff from the wrong address. Most of us even made friends from the other street because of this.

Is there any way to communicate with the AU post to correct this issue? Sure it may just be a individual post man issue?

Eg. I’ve tried brought this issue to the local post office and tried their hotline/ email multiple times. Problems are still remaining.

You can't seriously be complaining over a single misdelivered item?

Maybe one in every five parcels for the last three years?

    • That sentence means 20% of their parcels.

      • +1

No it really doesn't, "One in five" would mean 20% they said "one of the five"

You may be grammatically correct, but you missed the first 5 words, "In the last three years".
we all know in reality there is no way you only received 5 letters in 3 years time.
So if you read the whole sentence, it means 20%.
It's just the beauty of English.

          • @TanedaR: Assumptions, fact is OP made this post and have chose to not respond to anyone despite being online since.

            • @Axelstrife: Ya, we are talking in general English so we all make assumptions when we read/chat.
If you want precise terms, you should sit in a court room 24/7/365.

  • Make a complaint, ask to escalate the issue, then ask them if there is any way to rectify the problem.

The old way in the past is to write on the letter that has been delivered 'The person does not live in this address' and chuck it in the nearby postbox. Otherwise visit your local GPO and tell them. Calling these days and waiting over the phone is like waiting for a lottery win

What? That would further complicate things as they do live at the address that is on the letter/parcel.

      • My bad. I should've read the posy correctly. I'm assuming delivery to wrong address lol

One in five is a lot. That must be annoying. Maybe the council will allow a street name change. If the street name gets changed, both the old and new street names will be recognised.

Another suggestion is to spell out the word "Court" in the address so the OCR picks it up a bit more often.

    • This'll help OP, it'll likely piss off all the reaidents in the other street.

Time and money will be required to change address on their documents.

    • +1 for spelling out court. I also recommend putting it in capital letters to draw attention.

  • Complaints to OZ post do not fix anything. There must be some ombudsman you can complain to, but I do not know who they are.

Parcel Locker :P They seem to get those deliveries right 99% of the time ;)

    • You're not allowed to have letters sent to a parcel locker though. Seems unfair that OP would have to pay for a post office box to solve the problem

      • Really? I get legal documents sent to it all the time … weird :/

        • They let it slide the first few times but then pull you up on it - it could be you have nicer/more lenient people working at your local post office than mine though!

    Send to work

Contact your council and suggest that they change the name of the street.

Post a package to yourself or ask a friend to do it and insure it for $10,000 and when they don't deliver (or deliver it to wrong address) it claim insurance. Keep repeating until they fix the delivery issues.

    • +4

Great idea except max value is $5k and it would cost $125 to insure. Somehow, they will deliver those properly 🤷🏽‍♂️

    • +1

      Holy crap you're a genius.

I know our street names spell similar but mine is a Court but the other is an avenue

    Catalina Court
    vs
    Catania Avenue

    ?

  • I gave up and got a PO Box as the similar address claims they didn't get my parcels. Four times was too many times. Happens each time there is a new driver.

  • Contact your council and try to convince them to change the street name.
If they refuse, go to the Ombudsman.
