Great controller but this looks like the usual price

    • $89 at JB hi-fi..

$69 at EB Games or eBay

        5% coupon = $65.55 + free shipping if you're eBay Plus user

      • +1

yea but JB is often a little high. $69 at EB in stock at many stores, sure it's a buck more but don't have to wait for shipping

Easily my fav controller. Played AAA games on my pc and emulators on my phone with it, and my kids use it with the Switch too.

      How's the battery?

I used to hate the AA battery situation with Xbox controllers, but I finally came round to the idea after getting a set of good batteries and the charge and play kit.

      • It's brilliant. The 8bitpro 2 uses an internal battery that is user replaceable. It's under $10 for an official replacement. Lasts forever. I only charge it when the occasion strikes me and that seems good enough.

Easily my fav controller. Played AAA games on my pc and emulators on my phone with it, and my kids use it with the Switch too.

Have you used a DualShock 4? If so, how does it compare?

      • Just the fact that I don’t have to deal with the poor dualshock 4 battery and micro USB charging was enough to switch me over to this

Would personally pay the extra $0.79 to get it directly from Amazon AU

Kind of regular price nowadays. But a good controller.

  • +1

My 'Main' for the Switch and handy to easily toggle over for PC.

What do y'all use the back buttons for though? I've never had a pad that had these and they're being neglected at the moment..

    • +2

Commonly used buttons like roll in Elden Ring or a stick pressdown (L3/LS) for easier pressing. Use your 3 profiles so you can have separate binds for 3 games ;)

      • +1

Oh that's a good idea about L3/R3 - I always hate 'pushing' them in on traditional controllers and always end up tilting it in some direction at the same time :/

        • +1

Some games have controls that are heavy on one side of the controller. You can bind those buttons so you don't have to do as much finger gymnastics, too!

Best thing is that you can have two buttons bound to the same input so you don't have to use the back paddles if you have it bound.

Bit disappointed with my razer Kishi, the three games I care about, CODM/ApexM,PubgM all basically don't support it with a work around for CODM…

Picked up a same model from EB Games for $69 (nice) last week

I prefer the ergonomics of the new xbox controllers but the compatibility and a pretty solid feature set the 8BitDo have make it my controller of choice.

Some features from the top of my head are: 3 profiles for quick swapping button mapping for different games, multi device switch, custom button macro and assignment, extra buttons on the back and it includes a rechargable battery.

Was going to drop coin on these brand but I have no issues with PS4 controllers connecting to my android, and gaming PC plus retro pi.

  • Why do people likes these, just wondering? Sounds like a lot for controller

    • It's actually not. These are basically the cheapest decent bluetooth controllers you can find. When you factor in that they're actually built very well they're very good value.

      • so is bluetooth just another word for wireless?

        • +1

No. Wireless includes bluetooth and also proprietary 2.4Ghz connections which use their own dongle. Generally the latter is quite a bit cheaper, but may have some advantages depending on the type of connection. The advantage of bluetooth is that it's ubiquitous, low power, and avoids yet another dongle. For what it's worth I love the 8bitdo controllers since I can have them paired to multiple devices such as my phone and computer.

At anyrate, if you actually have a look around you'll likely find that most bluetooth controllers are considerably more than these.

          • @Ezuku: Thanks for that clarification. So what is a wireless PS4 controller? They don't have a dongle…. are they Bluetooth?

            • @bailbondsh: They're Bluetooth 2.1+edr iirc. These are bluetooth 4 incidentally. So if you had a spare ps4 controller lying around you could totally use that instead of this for playing games on your pc or android. That said iirc there are some controller compatibility conflicts due to the edr apparently, but I've never tried this out.

For what it's worth, I've constantly been looking for the cheapest controllers possible to use with my computer (couch coop). Everytime the cheapest controllers have just so happened to be 8bitdos. Also they're usb c and have a replaceable internal rechargable battery which is awesome.

    • +1

As someone that owns one of these and the official pro controller, I think it's because they look cool, they are cheaper than the official pro controller and they work just as well. Kind of a win, win, win.

  • So how is this much better than Pro+ exactly? Genuinely curious

  • +1

Ordered a SN30 Pro yesterday, first time using an 8bitdo device. Anyone else bought/used one, a SN30 Pro specifically, and if so, how is it? Any gripes with it? Also wondering if I can use the software to remap the buttons on it. Thanks in advance.

  • Would Iike to play old-school Bomberman on my Hisense U7G smart TV in the master bedroom, would this be good enough? Cheers

  • Noob question. Will this work on a PS5?

Does it work well on fighter games such Street fighter etc?
