Original Story

Coles is giving its customers a free coffee pod machine valued at $99 as part of an epic Mother’s Day promotion in collaboration with Vittoria Coffee.

Basically, all customers need to do is buy six Vittoria Coffee Espressotoria capsules to nab the special offer.

The capsules cost $7.50 for an Italian blend and $9 for its espresso and mountain grown coffee capsules and can then be used in the machine you will receive.

The promotion will run from April 20 to May 24 while stocks last, so you’d better get in quick.

Please move to deals if you think this is worthwhile posting as a deal.

    • This function doesn't exist for mods.

If you want it posted as a deal you need to actually use the Deal submission form https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/submit

      • Probably not worthwhile, judging by the feedback, hence why I posted here 1st for feedback. Maybe I should re-word it when I get time?
        Thank you Mod. :)

You can post even RRP on deals. Just post anything.. you don't need permission from scrimshaw.

If people think the deal sucks they will neg.. it's how the system works.

Don't even reword.. that's for people with the prestigious role of power user.

    No really "free" then..

$1.25 - $1.50 per capsule/cup ? Won't take them long to recoup their $99 back. Most equipment using consumables are sold below cost. eg Printers

    • Hence why Ecotanks cost so much initially.

I put this here in case there are Vittoria fans etc.

We have a Nespresso, and use 3rd party Capsules.

Hardly free. More like Vittoria Pod machine with 60 pods: from $45

    • News Ltd thinks it is. But yes, technically not free. I have adjusted the title slightly. :)

        News Ltd thinks it is.

This is the problem with our media these days.
Imagine doing some sort of qualification, maybe even a degree, and having to 'write' a 'story' like this. Rubbish.

        • My cousin was an editor for one of their competitors. Hence why he left them.

        • Keeps people employed though

  • Probably belongs in the deals section.

You're welcome to post it. Just put a link back to this page etc. :)

      • Hahaha .. nah. I don't even drink coffee.

Is it possible to learn the power of functioning without coffee?

          • +2

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Yep. Literally just stop. Couple awful days but after that your body/mind doesn’t feel it needs it anymore and you’re no longer dependent on it.

            • +1

@Hybroid: thanks @hybroid maybe I can get out of the grip of Big Coffee after all.

Now to also drop my dependence on large zinger boxes, darts and outlandish multis that ultimately fail.

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: My body can't work with coffee.. I have been having problems with insomnia and even coke has too much caffeine.

            • +2

@Savas: hey I have insomnia too!

But that's more to do with stress and crippling anxiety and ..i guess the 6-8 cups of coffee a day dont help.

              • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I have a standing order for decaf beans, figuring if I want good coffee it's gonna be decaf from now on.

It didn't work, my beans are accumulating as are empty nescafe tins.

anyone rate these machines? I had the OG aldi expressi one and then later a cafe italy one when woolies was running a similar 'free' promo. Get over both pretty quick, rather just get the $1 coffees at 711.

It is a matter of perception. Same with printers. Too much choice, idiotic priced supplies!

  • +2

Once you have finished all capsules you will find too many non compatible systems.
Endless Espressotoria machines on marketplace or gumtree. Most end up in bins as even charity shops have a ban on printers with no ink and capsule machines of rare species.
I found a taker for mine, been there, done that!

  • Lol @ free… You version of "free" and mine are very different.

Can I go in, spend my $45, take the machine and then return the $45 worth of coffee pods and keep the machine??

    • That's why they wrote 'free'

      • But will it take other Pods?

        • I haven’t found any yet. From my experience it would probably perform badly with other manufacturers pods. Haven’t been game to try.

  • I’m away from mine and missing it this morning. I’ve bought two (on special) over the last few years which isn’t really a recommendation. Even with decent tap water where I live the device clogs up over time despite regular descaling. I’ve taken to running a quick burst of clear water after each capsule in an attempt to clean it. Running a full tank of water before going on holiday is essential for long life. I’m going to move to a device that will use recyclable or non plastic capsules. Watching all that junk hit the bin every other day is getting to me! The coffee is pretty good and I never pay full price for capsules. Coles/woolies/foodland seem to take turns in having them at half price.
This is the cheapest I’ve seen these machines. In spite of what I’ve said I would buy one as a gift.
