Might be worth cancelling the amazon order from 2 months back that never arrived

    • Only if you can C&C this and get a refund for that $25 SD card

    • -1

All FE version is a JOKE. Enjoy it when the apps are frozen due to low Ram. Try to Have a nice day!

    • +1

Interesting that Bing Lee is higher on the supply chain priority than Amazon

  • +5

4GB RAM is a bit sad in 2022 IMO.

    • +3

Get the 128gb version, I think that one has 6gb RAM

      • That would be the one to get I think.

      • yes, i have both 64 and 128 variants for the kids. 64 variant got 4GB ram and 128 has 6GB ram.

        get 128….its worth it.

  • I ordered my 64gb tablet from Amazon for $499 in Feb 2022, received the sd card. Still no date of delivery. If I cancel my order, do i need to return the sd card.
Interested in the 128gb S7 from this post from Bing lee. Anyone going to do the same, please share your thoughts.

try to chat with amazon CS, they may let you keep the SD card, because they are at faulty for the delay and cost them too to post the card back.

      • Thanks will try and chat with Amazon

        • Weird I received my tablet 3 weeks ago

    • I returned the SD card last week and was credited the cost of the card. Tried to cancel the tablet order and got an error, will message and report back on outcome.

      • How did you go about returning the card?

        • When you go into the order it lets your return either the card or tablet. I just selected the tablet and printed the provided return label to drop off at the post office.

          • @mrderrickc: On mine that has disappeared already and it was noted that 1 April was the last day to return

            • +1

@Logical: Ahh, I initiated the process on April 4, then only sent it in later.

I just spoke to chat and managed to get my order canceled, kept the $25 credit for the memory card.

              • @mrderrickc: Cancelled my order over chat but they charged me $25 for the sd card.

  • is it a big deal if it's not AMOLED screen?

    • +4

Nah, lack of 120hz is a bigger loss imo. Atleast with lcd you don't have to be worried about screen burn in when on dex

      • Is OLED screen burn still a thing though?

        • +2

Yes burn in is still a thing, it will always be just the way OLED works. Manufacturers are just getting smarter and implementing ways to avoid it. My S8 ultra is aggressive on dimming

        • +4

No, not unless you abuse your device.

My phone, tablet x2, and TV are all OLED and have zero burn in. My last like 5 phones have been OLED and not a single one has any burn in. It's not a problem and hasn't been for years.

          • +1

@MrFunSocks: Same here. I think the OLED burn in is like a yeti - everyone's believes it's out there, but nobody's got any proof.

            • +1

@elektron: I have the Galaxy S8 since it was released. Used it in my car, in a holder, with android auto, probably less than 4 hours per week at varying intervals. Within 12 months, the android auto bottom menu is burned in to the screen. I took it to a Samsung shop, and they agreed it was a real issue. They would have replaced the screen for me under warranty too, but i'd cracked it only recently, and was too much of a tight arse to pay for that.

Another 4 years later, the image retention has faded, but it's still visible. The yeti is real, just unlikely to be seen by most people with normal usage.

              • @bumblebeetuna: I've also had a S8 since they released, zero burn in and zero image retention.

                • @MrFunSocks: It is probably like you said, "not unless you abuse your device". Though i wouldn't call frequent use of android auto abuse (for the phone at least), if i hadn't used it in the car like that, I'd likely never have seen any image retention either. Same might said for using Dex. Either way, Samsung acknowledged it as a problem with the phone.

Apart from that and the stupid bixby button, great phone. If i knew I'd keep it this long, I'd have got the damn screen fixed!

  • +3

Non AMOLED feels really a big deal if you are very used to Samsung AMOLED phones. Also, 4GB RAM does feel underpowered. I have the LTE version.

    • +3

Strangely, the Wi-Fi + 5G version apparently has a worse processor than the Wi-Fi version only.

      • Yeah… I knew this later after the purchase…
        :(

    • +1

Exactly that. I'm so used to AMOLED feel with samsung AMOLED phones.

    • +1

The lack of AMOLED is the thing stopping me from upgrading from my Tab S2 which has AMOLED. It's still going strong even with 3GB RAM, but the kids seem to have commandeered it.

  • Screen runs at 60Hz not 120Hz, you might want to go for the S7+ or spend big on the S8+.

    • +4

      But that's twice as much?

      • I think it comes down to preference, to me it makes a huge difference and worth the premium.

    • +2

I was going to get a 27inch tv but it didn't have 8k so I got an 85inch tv.

      • Got my ipad pro 12.9 yesterday, mini led, 120Hz as per specs, however I didn't notice any difference from the entry level iPad, maybe 120Hz is only noticeable in games?

  • -3

What about updates ? Samsung will stop updating next year .

    • +1

Which Samsung device only gets one year of software updates?

They are doing 4 years of software updates now, including for the S7 FE

    • It will get 4 years of security updates and it should get at least 2 major updates to the OS.

The Samsung Tab S7 FE was announced in late May 2021. It's not even 1 year old yet.

    • Wrong deal, this isn't one of the Lenovo china tab jobs with 1 version update and that's it.

      • -2

Go buy an iPad and u can get updated forever

  • Not enough ram… All versions

    • -1

      I gotta say, when I went from 12GB S20 to 8GB S21 I definitely noticed the difference.

I'm pretty cautious with anything under 12GB RAM now. Wouldn't touch 4GB, disaster zone.

      • +7

My gaming desktop uses that much RAM. What do you use to fill up 12GB?

        • Lol, probs a faiiiir call!

Look I obsess over stupid details, so for the average punter my comment is prob not valid.

          • +1

@iWan: Some details have a lot more to do with marketing than with real life performance.

        • +1

          Let's say they have open
A particularly intensive game they play - 1.2GB
          20 Chrome Tabs - 2.3GB
Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram - 1GB each

Yeah that's still only half lol

  • How does the 128GB version compare to LENOVO YOGA TAB 11 + PEN? Same price $599

    • +1

Lenovo one has slightly larger RAM (8G) and doubled internal storage (256G). But Samsung one has better shape, build quality, and support. For me, I would choose Samsung.

      • -2

U still can enjoy the beautiful design when the apps are frozen due to low RAM

  • The 64gb has faster CPU, but I feel it's still a bit underwhelming. Specially after I come from my 120hz S21 Ultra the tablet feels a bit ancient.

Didn't have this feeling with my Sony Xperia Z3 tablet compact.

But once you are in your app, or like me split view YouTube and Chrome it feels OK.

  • +1

This, Lenovo Tab P11 pro or Xiaomi Pad 5?

  • Does this still run kids games OK or better to get a newer tablet?

  • I got this from last deal and the large screen is amazing but it is bit slow to be honest. For the price it's a good deal!

  • for that money you can get a used Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 (not to get confused with the Lite version) for around $400, which for me better than the Tab S7 FE, better screen (AMOLED), more RAM, much faster and still get updates, though screen size on Tabs S6 is smaller.

    • Also with no warranty and a much older battery!

  • -1

without AMOLED…..this is such a shame……so same because I am a FAN of the S7

    • So youre expecting their budget tablet to have the biggest screen (at time of release) AND make it an oled AND undercut the S7+ in price?

Do you know what market cannibalization means?

      • And 8GB of RAM, and a faster CPU… still all for less please.

        • just an oled, slower cpu and less ram is ok.

  • Not sure the code works ? I get a "Not valid with other offers" comment ? Teh SD card is $29 ?

My partners TabS3 is starting to play up, thought about the 128 as a replacement for her ?

  • needs more ram :(

  • Why won't my Nexus 10 die!?

  • +2

Got office-works to price match and ended up at a total of $475 (without SD card). Just call in to check if they can do it. Not sure if I take the deal with officeworks or bing lee with SD card.

  • Ordered the 128 after Amazons delays last time. Hopefully will finally have it on Tuesday.

    • My order is still "pending" for the 128GB.
      It's looking like I won't get it today Tuesday 26 April 2022.
It could be that they are out of stock and it could take months before I receive mine, just like the Amazon debacle.
I ordered from Bing Lee Thu 21 April 2022.
I don't expect it to arrive this month or next month.
They are out of stock everywhere for months now.
I knew this was too good to be true.

      • I just contacted them.
They have my particular tablet in stock.
They are just waiting for my free SD card to be available so that they could ship them together.

  • thanks ! i was about to buy one from JB HIFI for 699, lucky i check ozbargain before leaving and got them to price match it.

  • +2

Sold out! Phew, I saved $499.

  • Cheapest stocked 64GB now $699 128GB $1079
