Also at Amazon au, 8L multicooker along the same lines as the Philips deal posted earlier today. Bought this instead because the reviews favoured the Instant Pot a little more, and I didn’t need to deal with a cashback for $20 extra. Also my history with Philips products is a bit mixed.
Camelx3 lowest price $149 in Nov 2020.

Philips has a coated inner pot, I'd get into Instant Pot for the stainless inner.

be warned. 8L is quite large. Got one of this and can only use it when I have a large family gathering - used about 4 times in the last year after black Friday sale for $142

    • any idea how many cup of rice we can cook with this?

    • Does the fact that it's bigger mean it cant cook smaller meals?

    • For a family of 4 cooking 2-3 cups is a no-go with 8L.

Depends on how much rice you love. If I assume 1/2 cup per person, I would say you need to cook between 6-8 cups for this not to stick to the bottom

Look into pot in pot if you're having trouble with smaller quantities in the 8L. Alternatively freeze the extra for a quick meal next time.

  • good thing about instapot is that you can extra stainless steel bowls for them ……i will cook a curry in one, take it out and out in another one for rice ….. saves me emptying and cleaning the first one …. not sure if the philips is the one with stainless steel bowl or aluminium with non-stick ?

We have anti Scratch pot only last for 1 year , bought instant pot duo nova 5L and so far very happy with the stainless still bowl.

    • Stainless steel?

      • +1

yep, stainless steel pot is one of the selling points of instapot ……doesn’t scratch, the philips stainless steel, pot is an extra $50 ……… it’s why i’m not sure why people want crazy over the philips offer , add a stainless steel bowl and even after cash back costs more than instapot …….

        • Didn't know this deal was a thing at the time…

Just found out the slow cook function on the Philips does not have variable temperature (no low/high setting). Also wish I had the stainless steel bowl that comes standard with the Crockpot and the handles that let you mount the lid to keep it out of the way.

          Regret :-(

Will probably return the sealed/unopened Philips to JB for a refund and wait for the Crockpot to go on sale again.
