My budget $30 cast iron pot from Aldi has been great, so I'm curious as to how much better they are for 15x the price.

Same, they’re just Dyson of the hair dryers

Just to clarify, I don't mind paying extra for a product that is premium and worth it, but I don't understand the value in these.

The skillets are a lot smoother than the cheapies so quite a bit less work to keep seasoned, and gives a great crust, but with these pots it’s tough to justify because they’re all smooth. They do look quite nice, and hold their value. A lot of it is the prestige and they look great on your table. Those in the know will give you a nod. If you’ll use it a lot, then why not splurge. But if it’ll sit in the cupboard all year then get a cheapy.

      • No seasoning with these, or ALDI. Both have enamel coating, even though it may look like bare iron.

I've read claims that the cheaper ones are more prone to staining or chipping at edges , but these are purely cosmetic issues.

Will buy it only for the "nod" of approval from the inner circle.
Just like reliving year 10 really.

Don't stop there. I carry mine out with me to get nods in the street.

@Click_It: Haven't tried this with the ladies yet. "Have you seen my Creuset?".
Bound to get a good result.

    • Have had one of these for 29 years(and counting) and no stains and no chipping, can't fault it. Also have $29 Aldi casserole model enamelled(shallower) and it goes from the stove to the oven and back again but it does stain (heat stains) but it's no biggy. Is it worth the money? I think it is, it's a lifetime investment and I'll give it to one of the adult kids when we toddle off.

It's just a personal choice at the end of the day.
I've seen these cheaper btw at DJ's and Myers and if you've got those store's cards then you'd probably know about the sale prices which are cheaper than this(Xmas time @Pacific Fair stores for instance).

Bought a bigger Lodge (Made in USA) one for $100 a few months back. Similar quality, quarter of the price, bigger unit.

    • We grabbed a crockpot version, $100 I did look at hte Lodge too. .. works like a heavy cast iron oven thingy, with glass enamel coating. And the finish is good. There is no way the deal item is worth three times the price. Theres no value in paying it anyway.

    • I did the exactly same thing, got a blue Lodge which still looks really nice and has performed very well over the last 2 years at the $~100 mark.

This is 35% off? Wow. You'd want to season this thing like it was your baby at that price.

Hahaha, I’ve had a pretty reliable baccarat Dutch oven for nearly 3 years now. Bought because it was nearly $200 cheaper. Can honestly say after using my mrs 4 year old le creuset the only difference is the overall look and feel. I also had a round one compared to her oval one which I much prefer the oval. I’ll turn my ozB badge in effective immediately. My apologies for the not so great bargain.

    • But in the description you wrote you jumped on this? Which one is it?

PS I appreciate you submitting the deal even if the OZB hive mind didn't think much of it in terms of value
