Suggestions for a Complete Double Bed - Budget $1000 (Immediate Delivery)

Complete bed means here bed frame & mattress but nothing else.

I went to IKEA this morning and looked for what I should buy and was about to order what I prepared. But I saw a post that says it took 6 weeks order delivered from IKEA online. I can't wait that long. I'm living without bed and desk in a new rent house LOL.

Is there any other option I can buy something affordable like IKEA but also delivered quick like less than a week?

  • Maybe check stock at another nearby IKEA and do click and collect?

    • my closest one is already 35km away

You could always just get the mattress and put it on the floor until you find a bed frame.

    • thanks…. i will keep that in mind. then still need to buy mattress from other

      • beware, its ok if you do it for a very short period of time only, as the damp humidity trapped between the floor and mattress without a bed frame will destroy both the floor and the mattress, i would prioritise getting the bed frame as being just as important as the mattress.

Facebook or gumtree for a bed frame. You might even find the IKEA one… get one with wooden slat base and it will be just like new.

    • thanks I will have a look

Obviously don’t buy a mattress this way!

Plenty of online mattress in a box sellers. zzz atelier outlet store on eBay has good prices - mattress probably has only a 5-7 year life but price is good (my teen son has one). But heaps of other sellers. Don’t know about delivery times

        • ^^^ totally this. frame from gumtree/market and a brand new mattress - I usually get the mattress in a box from ebay

How about a cardboard double bed frame for $159?

You can even choose the colour, comes in either brown or white cardboard.

    • haha.
it looks so weak. when I hit with chair wheel it wouldn't stay

      • They did a promo for the flooding recently and said that the cardboard bed is actually strong enough to hold a car.
So check again - you may find they are well made and not what you think.

Air mattress whilst you wait? Then it can be a guest spare bed.

My setup is air mattress with topper, adding a tent can also do isolation.

  • The Ikea Mordegal is on special atm down from $800 to $500 - I used them myself and awesome. Ikea Tempe has stock last time I check, you may need to go there then organize delivery from checkout.

  • Double beds are pretty small

    • At 6'3" I can confirm

At 6'3" I can confirm all beds are pretty small/short

      • Why would anyone neg this? A king size is only 203cm long and 6’3” is only 190cm tall.

  • Friends recently bought a Zinus mattress & bed frame ≤ $700. It looks great & their o/s guests have been sleeping on it for the last month and say it's very comfortable. Delivery was super quick too.

Got a zinus frame via Amazon last year..turned up quick and more solid than our kids IKEA frame.

Consider getting a queen sized bed. A double bed isnt as common these days, so it would be a special order.

    • Thanks got a queen bed.

  • Emma mattress. They’re extremely quick at delivery and the mattress is the best I’ve slept on. Get it through cash rewards and if you get it in sale, even better. I posted a review on their site as I was that impressed with their mattress and they refunded me $25 for the review which was a nice surprise.

  • Koala, Eva, Ecosa, Sleeping Duck etc all sell mattresses in a box, deliver within a few days and some sell beds as well.

    • Some do same day too.

  • Temple & Webster have good bed frames for around a few hundred dollars.

Most mattresses in a box will offer next day delivery, eg Emma, Ecosa, Eva, Noa, OneBed.

Aldi also have some very cheap mattresses in a box at the moment which I have found comfortable for the price.

  • But I saw a post that says it took 6 weeks order delivered from IKEA online.

This is unlikely to apply to everything IKEA has. If I go through the checkout process with IKEA there's a delivery time slot on Thursday for me.

Make sure it's in stock at your local store first and if you're worried call them up to make sure they can deliver it.

    • Actually i went to IKEA again and it takes only 3 days

  • I just picked one up at Costco.

Btw they take 24hrs to expand

    • It's still usable before fully done

  • I suggest you spend time physically trying out each brand. After all, it is you that has to sleep on it.
    Sleep on that

    • the thing is I don't know about oz bed brands. I just bought from IKEA. thanks for ur reply
