This is a great price for a USB 3.0 3TB Hard-drive because it is all you will need for the rest of your life it's that big!
It transfers data so quickly with the USB 3.0 connection, so I can't bear the slow USB 2.0 connection anymore.

        • Yep, I've just gone to the checkout with one in my cart and sure enough, they've canned sending these to .au. What a pisser.

Seagate Expansion 3 TB USB 3.0 Desktop External Hard Drive STAY3000102 cannot be shipped to the selected address.

    • They have probably run out of stock at the amazon export warehouse, no real need to neg it since the deal has been going for quite a while

      • no they havnt…local usa address worked fine.

  • I knew I should have gotten some more when they dropped to 129.99 dammit.

  • I have 3 aussie addresses & I can't ship to any of them either. I wonder if they have just changed their policy for this item?

    • Most likely out of stock at the amazon export warehouse, but they are available at the main amazon warehouse (which doesnt ship internationally)

@chuneeperformance Amazon has several warehouses, and only 1 ships internationally, so its most likely out of stock at that warehouse, but available at the others (which dont ship here)

Happens with the Cruical SSD's every now and again.

  • 4 business days for a delivery, awesome for 12 bucks from US

Drive is pretty good, st3000dm001 if anyone is wondering:

    • Do you get some ticking sound issue as others posted on Internet?

If the above is the sound you're hearing, believe it or not, it's normal.

However, if it's constantly ticking, the drive is probably okay, but the sata to usb controller inside the case might be bad. There are also youtube videos that cover this issue, google for them if you want to see them.

One common gripe about these expansion drives is that they get hot, the cases are not very well designed for ventilation.

      • It was ticking for a few hours before I cracked the case open and freed the disk. It reached 56 degrees overnight just doing a surface scan. No way I am leaving it in there!
Disk is good, case is not. I know it voids warranty, but I better have a live disk then a dead one with a warranty.

  • I just received mine and Crystal Disk Info says it has 5 hours of use on it. Can anyone confirm if this is just manufacturer testing?

    • Oh, and could anyone please advise of the average running temperatures? I wanted to copy around 180 gigs, and within the first 30 minutes (about 30 gigs) the drive had already climbed to 49 degrees, so I stopped it. It is in an open space at room temperature, so I'm not too impressed.

      • Max 60 degrees according to a datasheet. However, I would not keep it running above 40. I have disks running for many years and temperature regime is the main thing to keep them alive for long time.

        • Google runs theres between 40-50 degrees, so long as the temp is kept consistant and doesnt spike temp wise it will be fine.

My 5x3 caddys sit at 45 or so when in use, still work fine after several years or 24/7 use

        • Thanks guys. If any of you could give me an idea of your temperatures after a certain period of copying that would be great. I also have the 'chirp' sound, so I'm a bit skeptical about these drives. It seems that the kinks have not been ironed out yet.

        • Case controller / power supply is no good, no chirping sounds after I removed the drive from the case.

I would be really surprised if anyone would use this drive as is in a case to copy 3Tb under normal temp in summer and it will last.

        • Mine were showing around 45 or so when doing a full surface scan, fixed that buy pointing a usb fan at it which brought it back to mid 30's.

    • had the same

  • oops wrong product.
