Zyft - A New Tool to Always Find The Best Prices Online

Hi guys,

I wanted to let you know about a new tool I’ve been working on which helps you to instantly find the best prices on products when you’re shopping online.

When you’ve decided on a product you want to buy, it helps you instantly find which retailer is selling it for the best price, saving you time having to shop around. And unlike Google, it shows you ALL retailers (many times, the cheapest product isn't searchable on Google - and we have no affiliation with retailers).

It's called Zyft and it's simple to use. Download the free Zyft Chrome extension and then just shop online like normal. When you’re on a product page, Zyft will pop up and instantly show you which other retailers are selling the exact same product for better prices. We can also show price history and will eventually be able to notify you when products you're looking at go on sale.

It's early days, so I would really appreciate your feedback on what you like and how you think we can improve it.

we have no affiliation with retailers

How do you make your money then?

    • +3

      Selling consumer data probably.

    • Do ads count as affiliation?

    • +3

We're leaving it open for now, trying to figure out how to build a completely unbiased product search engine. Eventually, we will set up affiliate links and receive a small commission on sales that originate from Zyft.

Just searched for Samsung q80 55". Zyft's cheapest was 1700. I did a quick google and found 1600. Doesn't do what it says on the tin………

Thanks for pointing out this issue. We are still in beta and are continually updating our algorithm and fixing bugs.
We didn't match on this product due to metadata issues in our data pipeline. We have fixed that for this example now, We will be rolling out a wider fix soon.

Looking forward to more feedback and support from the community.

    • Thanks for saving my time!

    • "Doesn't do what it says on the tin"

      Reminds me of Peter Jones

Joins OzBargain to push their 'free' app and claims not to have any affiliation with retailers?

It'll only be free if they are getting kickbacks from retailers or the app is loaded with spyware/ads and harvests user personal details.

No such thing as a free lunch.

Psht I'm a proud OzBargainer who prides themselves on their natural bargain hunting skills 😎. Apps like Honey are for the plebs.

Have you considered setting it up as a webpage so we don't need the extension?

    • +1

How would they date mine without the extension though?

That why everything these days is a bloody app instead of just a website.

      • That's why I won't be trying it without a webpage.

Happy to install a extension once the tool has been proven and seems at least somewhat trustworthy.

Not really comfortable adding a random extension tbh. A website would be better.

    • I've added it to it's own profile for testing, but I agree this should just be a go to website

  • Price is incorrect on this site - Ext says $1,362.73, site is a weird rental system and not that price

    • Thanks for pointing this out. Yes, the website is slightly weird and reports the wrong price in metadata. Applied some of our price-fixing technology to fix the price on the website.

        ACCC has entered the chat

  • I think OP should prove the App, we all pick products and they take screen shots of the App beating our price.

    I'll start WH1000XM4 - $349 from Telstra

    • Hey Nalar it doesn't look like I can post screenshots here? Zyft found it on https://www.fittrack.com.au/products/sony-wireless-noise-can… for $343 - but this is currently out of stock (same as telstra)

From what I can see, it's $398 at telstra and out of stock https://checkout.telstra.com.au/consumer/accessories/headpho…

      • That's not bad, very random retailer but price is all that matters really. Do you have alerts for price drops or do you have to run the extension every time you want to price check something? How does it handle Ebay and it's many coupons in cluding the site wide afterpay ones? What about when Amazon has a coupon for a specific item?

P.S The Telstra price was last week's Telstra day price. which was a one off.

One issue I see straight away is to display a retailer that seemingly cheaper but postage is not accounted for yet.

  • Hey James, wanted to message you directly but wasn't able to. Great idea and something we've all wanted for a long time.

Just wanted to tell you that you're using the American Target logo, instead of the Australian one on your home page.

Now getting unsolicited messages from the OP asking for feedback. Yeah nah.
