  • How's this compared to samsung q950a 11.1.4?

    • +1

The Samsung is definitely the best value on the market. The 11 in 11.1.4 is a bit of a joke tho. They’re not independent channels supported by any standard. So Samsung either makes shit up for them, mimicks another channel, or leaves them off.

I just upgraded to the Bose from an older Samsung HT-W5500 which is 5.1 speaker Blu-Ray system. Obviously the Bose can't create the same detailed soundscape for movies, but music is night and day. The Bose w/Bass Module 700’s music quality is just outstanding, well worth the premium for me.

People will bash Bose but this has incredible sound processing if you want a movie to sound great but you don't want to be deafened one minute and then struggling to hear dialogue the next minute.

Got one. Sound fantastic. Their software is just SO bad. I'll pretty much never buy a bose product again.

    • yikes, that bad?

      • +2

Yeah, honestly half the time it doesn't turn on, software doesn't sync, difficult to connect to wifi

    • I've owned one for around 3 years, the remote died after 2 years, barely used it

  • Combine both and its cheaper then buying it seperate.

  • Beware, YouTube services are not supported if u decide to use Google smart assistant on this sound bar!

Videopro are no longer an authorised Bose dealer therefore they are selling all leftover stock. Might be worth waiting for further reductions? I was told this when I enquired about the Bose 900 availability.

3 yrs owner here. Impressively rich details and house-shaking bass (with bass module 700 of course). With Jellyfin on NAS and Kodi on Sony Android TV it's great and efforless home theatre experience.

  • have soundbar 300 and 700, 300 for bedroom and 700 for living room .. sound quality exceptional and surprisingly bassy without the external bass module. No issue with the software and App.. every now and then it lost connectivity to the soundbar but it's more to the wireless issue at home.. and nothing that a power on/off would not fix.

    • No issue with the software and App

Why do you need the software once everything is setup?

      • things like .. volume control, adjust sound mode depending the type of movie you watch, .. i know there's remote, but it just convenient having it on the phone to switch between netflix and bose app

        • So the TV remote does not work to control the volume?

      • I think the only feature unique to the app is independent channel/subwoofer volumes. Everything else can be done via CEC or the remote.

It’s worth noting this model has been superseded by the 900 and these are being cleared. I just got an ex-display from JB. So, if you can live without Atmos, there should be lots of deals for this one I reckon.

    • How much $?

      • It was marked at $849. I got it and a Bass Module 700 for ~$1650. Both are $1199 RRP.

        • VideoPro sell new for $1690… but postage hurts

          • @Ulysses31: Had I known that then, I would have considered it, but I still saved almost a $100, got to take it home right away, and I love having the option to pack it up and take it back if I want to. That being said, I'm very happy with the combo. Rear speakers are on the way!

  • Able to get one with bass 700 from JB and success to ask them to do a price match. The sound is excellent. Happy day.
