If you want a case with abit more side and back protection - I recommend their other case which is $15.99.

Also an additional 10% off if you bundle with their 2 Pack Glass Screen Protector (Also applies to case in OP).

EDIT: Their other Screen Protector listing has an additional $1 off and also 10% off for bundling.

    • Do you have this?
Would it be weird to cut off the flap?
I dont want anything over the face apart from the glass protector.
Trying to keep it rather minimal.

      • I do have the case.

I guess you could cut of the flap from the back.

        • Good enough lol.
Will order and see if its any good like that.
Looked at just cases without a cover but didnt like them.

@Cinnamon Crunch: I like the SPIGEN Tough Armor Pro Case for Galaxy Tab A8 10.5", but wasn't going to pay $85 for a case haha.

          • @Cinnamon Crunch: Would you get the Samsung kickstand one? Was $47 from amazon but seems this influx of tab a8 flooding the market quite a few stuff disappeared off Amazon and some went up in price.

            • @zorrt: I have a kickstand thing already that is sitting around and was almost thrown away. Its one of those Moft things from a random old JB deal. Super thin.
Standing isnt priority as I will use a mount most likely. The tablet will be for in my car during breaks at work and stuff.

      • Agreed the front is annoying, but using it as a stand like on a flight would be ideal

        • I have a moft stand from a long ago JB deal which didnt suit the device it was intended for.

Its going to be a media device for my work breaks so it will pretty much live in my car with a mount when in use.

    • Is screen protector necessary? I only used tablet during bed so very unlikely to drop

      • +2

Personally I always put a screen protector on my devices, as scratches always randomly appear on my screen…

        • ^this
Even using microfiber cloth sometimes scratch glass. Better be safe than sorry.

      • +2

Nah I've always used my phones without one. A tablet with a flip cover case shouldn't need one.

    • Thanks I bought it but they increased the price by a dollar when purchased

    • Got this delivered today. Thanks!

  • +10

handy for all the fortunate ones who received their very discounted tablet from the recent Optus deal !!!

    • +3

I just received mine, runs much smoother & quicker than my 32G WiFi A7.

    • +4

deal of the century that - cant believe they honored it

      • +4

        Maybe Gladys approved, lol.

    • Fortunate… as in not me. Pretty miffed. Bought a 64gb on Sat at 5pm. Swapped it to a 128gb on Sunday morning (appears that moving Apps to the SD Card is not supported because of Knox. The option can be enabled, but doesn't work). Optus chat cancelled the 64gb for me after a guarantee that I will not be left without a device. And yet… still don't have a device. They ran out of stock, said they're expecting a shipment from Samsung this week. Promises promises.

First rule of ozbargain is buy now think later.
You snooze or doubt, you loose.

    • I know right and to honour it is just incredible honestly

  • +2

    Any keyboard recommendations?

    • +1

I got a keyboard case similar to this one from aliexpress (~$30-35 from Aliexpress):
      https://www.amazon.com.au/ProCase-Keyboard-Protective-Detach…

Main issue with all of these is for some reason the keyboards only charge via micro-USB.

I have a similar one for my Lenovo tablet and it works well.

edit: this is the exact one I ordered from Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003957381892.html?spm=a2…

      • Track pad or no track pad? Typing on a tablet without a mouse or trackpad seems a pain in the arse even if you do have a touch screen mere inches away

        • +1

This time I got one without a trackpad, my previous ones I've had the trackpad on them. Trackpads seem to work, but not the nicest trackpads I've used.

    • Kmart bluetooth one for 11$ works well

  • +1

    I also received mine yesterday

  • +5

got this one, not very good quality and protection

    • +1

IMO, return it and get the one I suggested in the first comment if you want better protection.

      • Do you know if the $12.50 sim plan 30gb optus is throttled at 30gb or you get extra chrages?

        • I actually owned the tablet prior to the Optus Deal.

        • No additional charges after 30GB, data shaped to 1.5Mbps.

  • Is this a bargain price?

    • +1

      Next day delivery is… :)

  • +17

People already shopping for covers while I sit here, my eyes swollen with tears, waiting for my Tablet to arrive.

    • my order got cancelled, ordered on the 23rd. Someone ordered later than me, received their tablet

      • +1

Wait for email or SMS, ordered 23rd got cancelled, was very sad, then got an email saying to call another number and they had just cancelled the original order but it was going ahead under a new order number and delivered next week. Even the live chat people told me it was cancelled and I wasn’t getting anything but actually I am

        • no sms and no email

    • +2

You may expecting same thing happen again when you see the quality of the screen 😂.

Got my order yesterday, even though i shouldn't have complained for this price point

      • +1

Gotta agree, screen seems a step down from the older tab A6 which I also have with noticeably worst viewing angle. But at this price it's good, but not at the original rrp.

      • Is it that bad? Thought it was on par with the A7, which was ok for a kids tablet. My kid is going to YouTube the heck out of it so the screen needs to be half decent. :)

        • +1

It's not "that" bad, just not as good when compared to the A6. Haven't seen the A7 so can't comment on that.

          • @zorrt: Ah ha! The A6 seems to have had a superior display. Some might have even shipped with an S Pen enabled Amoled, which would have been superb. Certainly wouldn't have purchased the A8 for anything more than the Optus deal :-).

    • +1

I was stupid and got this case when I ordered the tablet. I now have an empty case waiting to be filled.

  • Go to officeworks they have quite a few for like less than $15

    • Cheapest on their site is 39

      • Nah at casula officeworks used to be sale stock $5

  • +2

Ive got the same case. Front flap scratched with just my finger nail even though i have none. Super poor quality and would probably damage the tablet more if dropped.

  • Is this for the recent optus deal?

  • Looked at a spigen for mine…$45 =(

  • +1

Anyone still waiting for their tablet too?

    • +1

yep, not gonna buy a case until it's received

      • Same and same. Not received. Not buying case until it is.

  • What are the chances that Optus will my order? My order went through.. However not been charged yet, no update on the delivery in optus app. Should I buy cases and protector before receiving the device.

    • +1

i wouldn't risk it, reports on the optus thread of people getting orders cancelled. Seems isolated but enough to warrant waiting and see

      • +2

I got the tablet delivered with the 1/2-price SIM and discounted tablet cost, they're likely to honour it. Took a few days to get to the "leaving warehouse" stage, but was delivered next day after that.

        Definitely wait and see though.

      • If they cancel, they should do to those who ordered multiple..we will be seeing people selling them in marketplace and gumtree in coming days.. I hope i get mine..

  • +9

I would personally spend a few extra dollars and get this case instead - this design is much sturdier (but bigger footprint)

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09NPKQ69H/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_1…

    • I got that one today. Decent case for the price. From experience these are much sturdier than the folding flap cases.

    • Totally agree with you. For my Samsung S7 SE Tablet, I changed from threefold to this one, much sturdier.

    • Totally agree and this has extra viewing angles to adjust too which is just perfect. Arrived several days ago.

  • +2

    received my tablet today :)

  • I bought this yesterday for $13.99 and arrived today. l0l-

  • +1

I'm waiting for a Samsung official case to drop below $34. I bought a similar cheap case for last year's Tab A7 and you definitely get what you pay for, easy to damage the flap and the plastic seems quite brittle and easily scratched. Ended up getting a Samsung case for that in the end and it still looks like new after a year, so I might as well not waste money with the A8.

    • Also keen on the Samsung case. It's similar to the cases for the S series with a super magnetic tilt. Tabs for the kiddie, so the only issue is leaving the screen unprotected.

  • +2

Case is ok, this price is just rrp though and was $14 a couple days ago when they were seemingly matching the jetech one and which is what they are seemingly doing now. Magnet on mine doesn't hold the flap shut.

  • There was a $1 off offer few times past days. Not really a deal, normal price.
Also bought the blue one and looks cheap.

  • I bought a procase for my iPad and didn’t like it.
Bought this for my coming Tab A8 as it has magnets but the procase as far as I know doesn’t or at least the iPad version doesn’t

    • This says it does.

      • +1

I must be blind, couldn’t find it last night, saw it instantly now

  • No deal for S7. 😰

  • Got this Supcase for $42.99 which should be pretty sturdy. I have use Supcase’s case before and their in built screen protector might work for some, I normally take that screen off and put tempered glass on. Solid 10/10, kids proof and a nice kickstand case cheaper than Otterbox or Spigen.

  • Very limited choices on cases

  • +2

Case arrived, it is horrendous. Flimsy and fragile, spend more and get better.

    • Which case did you get?

      • The main one the OP posted:

Procase Protective Slim Cover for Galaxy Tab A8 Black/Navy $14.99 + Delivery

        • Thanks for the heads up. Its a hard plastic back isn’t it - does it seems like its gonna scratch the back or edges of the tablet if you frequent putting on and taking off?

          • @ow: Hard plastic yes, I reckon the edges will scratch / chip with regular removal / insertion. I think if I drop case from a normal height the tablet will pop straight out.

            • @FabMan: Which was why I recommend the case in the first comment.

              • @RichardL: It was too late for me, I bought this case before I saw your comment.
