Changed Flights with Singapore Airlines

Long story short, we booked flights a few months ago direct with Singapore Airlines to Europe, recently they sent us an email changing our flights to depart two days before our original day.

This is an issue because we have a wedding on that day and most of our reason of going to Europe in the first place. We have spent a few hours on call with them at the moment and the most they have explained to us is that we are booked on a different fare class and thus ineligible for our original date.

Do we have any recourse on this matter? Deeply disappointed with the SG airlines service, the customer service rep was extremely unhelpful and refused to escalate our issue.

Has anyone had anything similar happen to them? And what was the outcome?

Did your flight booking ever get a "confirmed" status? If so, you should be entitled to change flight to another date and/or get a refund as the change is from their end. I had this happen on the way back from UK when Singapore retimed flight because of late arrival of inbound aircraft (only 1 a day). If the booking was never "confirmed" then maybe less of a leg to stand on, check your records.

    • Yes the booking was definitely confirmed, we received a confirmation of the changes too.

Sounds like all Airlines atm are dead set flogs.

    • Singapore airlines has by far the worst customer service!!! You can’t get through to them. No idea why some people swear by them and their customer service.

        Tried calling Qantas of late??

        • I called them at 10pm and got through in less than 2mins…Sounded like call centre in the UK

Just checked their website, they say you have complimentary rebooking up until 31st May 2022, and then 1 free change after that. So, you should be able to change your dates, though you'll have to pay the fare difference if there is any.

How did you get through to them on the phone!? I tried for days and was unable to get through (back in Jan). It took them 4 months to respond to my email, by which time my flight had been and gone.

    • Yep we were told if we tried rebooking we would be bumped up a fare and we needed to pay an extra $3500.

If they force you to change they must offer a refund as an option also. Push them on it.

    • Yep they did offer a refund but the flights are a month out, and we booked for seven people, it’s a logistical nightmare with all the other bookings.

Get refund and book with reliable airline with quality service, aka Qatar airways.

Social Media blitz them. Tweet to their official account. Complain on the Singapore Airlines official Facebook Page latest post. Comment on their latest SingaporeAir instagram post. Be as scathing as possible without swearing, and the best outcome may be reached.

They changed my flights to NYC last December and I couldn't make the connecting flight, so I had to cancel as it was a saver flight redemption. Took me lots of complaining but I finally got my miles back after 4 months. I started with direct calls, but that didn't go anywhere for 3 months. So I took to social media after and it was done in a month.

    • Tried LinkedIn, Facebook, twitter and instagram. Let’s see if this works…

  • Are you able to get thru to reservations?

I hope you get this sorted.

2 days is a huge difference.
