        They’re referring to the fact that Myer sells Myer gift cards and Coles Group & Myer gift cards in their physical stores.

        If you buy a Myer gift card through the Myer gift card website, you’ll almost certain to receive zero cashback. The Myer gift card website is separate from the regular Myer website, plus the payment process is completely different, which means that if you purchase a Myer gift card online, CommBank will think you purchased a gift card from a completely random website. (There’s always one or two AMEX cardholders caught out by this whenever there is an AMEX cashback offer at Myer.)

              @WookieMonster: As per your link and the reply from the Myer employee, they are thoroughly trained not to allow buying a Coles Myer gift card with a Myer gift card, however the couple of times I've found someone who let me make that transaction I learnt that their POS will let you do it with no issue. It's just a human blockade to the transaction.

    Was previously receiving these offers but have not had a single offer appear for 3 months with credit card, spoke to two departments about the problem. They initially denied that there was any issue, contacted them again 1 month ago and they did admit there was some technical issue but had no idea how it could be fixed or any time frame for fixing it… great…

      Yep.

      When you purchase a gift card in-store at Myer, you’re using the same checkout system and same EFTPOS terminal as if you were buying clothing, homewares, electrical, etc. That means that CommBank cannot tell what you’ve bought; they can only see you bought something in-store at Myer, so as long as you hit the minimum spend requirements, you’ll get cashback.

      I have only ever seen Myer gift cards and Coles Group & Myer gift cards sold in-store at Myer within the last year or so, so I don’t think you can get any other gift cards (e.g. Apple gift cards).

          I'm not sure whether you can do split payments when purchasing gift cards at Myer. I know it is not possible at some businesses (e.g. Kmart). If you cannot do split payments, you should be fine purchasing two gift cards in separate transactions using two different cards.

          I have actually never been the Myer in Melbourne CBD (and don't live in Melbourne), so no idea what kinds of gift cards they stock there, but they should stock Coles Group & Myer gift cards.

          I have never seen a Myer with self-serviced checkouts, so I'm 99.9% sure you'll need to go to a serviced checkout.

    Thank God I didnt buy it yet, starting today 2 May til 8 May the Orange MYER gift card has a 10% bonus gift card (separate card which will need to be used up in 3 MONTHS, not years).
    So $110 value for $80. Happy Chappy
