Plantation Grande Reserve 1L Barbados Rum $63.99 Delivered @ Booze Bud eBay

BMNB20

So this is its usual deal price but cheaper than you can get the 1L for anywhere else.
Personally I like it, it’s got a smooth taste and goes down well.

  • Doesn't seem to be rated all that well, 6.4/10 from 223 reviews.

      "Tasty, but not quite great" is the comment, and I'd agree. For $60ish per litre, it's a good price for that rum imo.

    • I didn't particularly like it. Their pineapple one is nicer but still not my first choice in rum. Its all subjective in the end.

  • This or the Dark version? I'm after a rum for dark rum based cocktails??

    Not terribly fussed if it's not the best rum; a decent 'sh.t kicker' is what I'm after. Something that isn't lighter fluid but isn't awful.

    For reference I use Makers 46 and Glenlivet 12Yo as 'sh.t kicker' bourbon and whisky. Not terrible but nothing you'd write home about either

      Either? I've used both as base in rum old fashioned and flavour profile varied a fair bit. The darker one has an eatery funk to it, like old fruit (but tropical fruit, like banana or pineapple). I'm not selling it well, but it is good of you like it.
      This one is a bit less of that ester-y flavour, so it works better with citrus in my experience.

      From memory, this is about $10-15/L more expensive than the dark. If you're hiding your Rum with other strong flavours, then the dark will do. If it's more spirit forward, choose this.

        Thank You! Yeah mostly old fashioned style cocktails (so spirit forward drinks)

        From this and your comment below I’m inclined to this one

  • Dark is the same price w/ coupon;

      Personally, I would pick this over the dark of they're the same price. Flavours are different, but the finish on this is far superior
