Hope they don't revoke offer like Kayo/Binge/Flash :)

  • Does it have any console apps? It will be great for my mom & grandmother visiting me later this month. Otherwise an excuse to buy Shield TV. Thx OP!

    • You can also get Worldmax TV, a 4K STB with movies, TV shows and sports for $240.

      • I am highly skeptical, mate. See their reviews on product reviews. Their website is also a very dodgy WordPress one. I wouldn't really go for that.

        • Each to their own. I've had it for 4 years now with no issues, and get to watch all the cricket matches live in HD, along with a bunch of Indian cinema, while the missus is into the soap dramas (urrrggghh).

          • @Trishool: Is it one time payment or reoccurring?

            • @Family420au: From memory I think it's 2 years up front for 2 years support and connection, the STB and delivery. After that you pay $120 a year or $219 for 2 years, again which also gives you technical support and connection for that period of time. This may have changed since I signed up 4 years ago, so it would be best to check out their website to ensure you get the right info.

  • My gf and I recently started watching some bollywood movies during lockdown. This would come handy.

      • Can you name it?

        • was he talking about Kashmir Files?

          • @TasJacks: Don't know. I want to learn as well

            • +6

@[Deactivated]: Watch Kashmir Files and then read the horror stories shared by Kashmiri Pandits and judge for yourself. The movie is not technically amazing but has done a commendable job at showing the genocide faced by Hindus for just being from a different religion in their own country!

          • -7

@TasJacks: Yes. TKF is made by the Indian equivalent of Nazi propagandists.

Also I am a CENTRIST and not a stooge of anyone unlike some other shills here.
The Kashmiri pandits suffered untold miseries and hardship. But instead of highlighting that and helping them, the film instead chooses to only magnify the riots and paint the other community as villains in totality. The film makes it clear that there are no good folks in that community. All are instead painted as evil to the core with the sole goal of whipping up communal passions and creating enmity in society. Think of it as a triggering movie designed to instil hatred.

It conveniently glosses over the fact that only the extremist groups from that community harmed the pandits, that many good members of that community helped the pandits, that the ruling party of India today was part of the national govt when this happened. This party has full majority today and didnt do anything to help them (anything concrete!).

More than 30 years have passed, the pandits never got their due nor any succour. Their suffering is now being used as a tool to incite mob violence and 21st century nazism and make India the next Afghanistan (mark my words).
A sample response elicited from the movie's screening - https://www.thequint.com/news/india/the-kashmir-files-anti-m…

            Peace out.

@axlfan: Are you a Muslim? Can see your hate towards Hindu and Indians through your anonymous mask. Did you even watch the movie?

            • +2

@axlfan: Just because some people do not agree with your view, does not make them stooges or shills or Nazi propagandists. In fact, your statement indicates what kind of person you really are.

However, I completely agree with you, the Kashmiri pandits (all Hindus) suffered untold miseries and hardship. In fact this was nothing short of an ethnic genocide. When people of a certain community are targeted, their men and children killed, their wives raped and whole families ousted from their homes, this is a genocide - not a riot.

Also why are you mixing these two things - highlighting and helping? The film can only highlight what happened to the Pandits and cannot help them directly. It is the government's responsibility to help them. The film has done what it is supposed to do, state the facts. In fact, it has done a great job of indirectly helping them since not a lot of people even in India knew the atrocities heaped on them and now they at least know about it and can think of helping them. However, you seem to not like the facts presented since it brings out certain realities which some people (who are leftists or always want to be politically correct or support such extremism ) want to ignore or sweep under the carpet.

To counter your point re the government, the Chief Minister (equivalent to a Premier here) of the state of Kashmir up to 19 January 90 was Farooq Abdullah. He never took any steps to quell this genocide and always supported it by turning a blind eye to it. 19th January is significant since the ultimatum for the Pandits to leave the Kashmir valley was that day. Farooq conveniently resigned on the 19th to give a free reign to the extremists to continue on their mission of driving the Pandits out. On the day of the exodus, there was no one in power in the state thanks to the resignation.

Also, the government at the centre at that time was not the same one as the one in power now. The party in power on 19 Jan 1990 (for a shortened term from 2 Dec 89 to 10 Nov 90) was Janata Dal and was supported by a few other parties including the current ruling party who did not have a major say in what the Central Govt could or could not do. Prior to that, the Congress party was in power for 5 years. During those 5 years, at no point in time did the Congress do anything to stop nip the problem in the bud, but kept turning a blind eye to it. Get your facts right.

Even if the current government wants to resettle the Pandits back in their homes, the Pandits are deeply traumatised to go back again. Most of them are unwilling to go back without proper security. Even if there is full security, the fear does not let them do it. Imagine going back to a place where all (or best case scenario – most of) the people around you want you dead.

Also as I stated earlier, what is shown in the film and how the Pandits have been helped subsequently are two different things and not to be mixed. We are talking only about the film here right ?

Nazism did happen in India – but in Kashmir and in the 90s and everyone knows by whom. Also if India were to be turned into Afghanistan, it is common knowledge who wants to go back in time to laws prevailing a thousand years ago.

My appeal to everyone on this forum – do watch this film and see the facts for yourself. After all the trial subscription is free and if us Ozbargainers don’t avail of something that is free, who will ? 😊

@Ozziechhora: Some have equated TKF to Schindler's List. I suppose mentality which banned holocaust movies back then have no problems to try and ban genocide movie now. It was labeled Jewish propaganda last time and now Hindu propaganda

              • -2

@Ozziechhora: Dude 2 wrongs don't make a right. This film's real agenda is the vilification of all Muslims instead of targeting the terrorists who did this. There are numerous stories of pandits whose lives were saved due to their Muslim neighbors.

The current govt and its supporters like u have a nice hands off approach. Deny responsibility but milk the misery of others to your advantage. The movie makers openly went to meet BJP leaders and the PM. And those guys deal in hate anyways and made this move tax free. Did any of the tax free money go to the pandits at all? Its just propaganda wrapped around the miseries of the pandits.

One person above calls me a Muslim just because I am against fascism.I am not and I am personally happy that I am not one. Doesnt mean we need to hate them for the acts of a minority. And you seem to be a smart person. Are you really ignorant of the fascist things happening in India today? Quelling of dissent, rise of extremist right wing groups, mob vigilantism, BJP leaders openly using communal enmity to win elections?

Granted the pathetic congress started these games. But the BJP was always a party with a difference and now they have embraced the extremists and will take India back to the stone age. Its just a matter of time. Movies like these will continue to brainwash people to blindly hate a community instead of rejecting extremism fully - whether Hindu or Muslim.

                  @axlfan:

Doesnt mean we need to hate them for the acts of a minority

This is the beauty of such arguments… make out the second largest religion a minority.

There are numerous stories of pandits whose lives were saved due to their Muslim neighbors

Agreed and that’s the humane thing to do and displays the best of humanity but it can’t be used as a shield to protect those who committed these horrible crimes against the most vulnerable.

                • -1

@axlfan: The film has one agenda, to simply bring out the truth and show what happened. It has shown what has happened, who suffered and who were the perpetrators. What is your problem in facing the truth? Unless you are suggesting that whatever realities shown in the film didn't actually happen.

People can watch the movie and are free to form their own opinion. They are smart enough not to be brainwashed. Can you deny that the film has shown the truth about the victims ? It is based on the true life stories of Kashmiri Pandits who have narrated these to the producer. Denying their experiences also amounts to denying the holocaust ever happened just because you hate the BJP

If that is the case, then you are simply living with your head buried in the sand OR intentionally spreading lies about the film, about those who underwent these horrors and about those who believed the facts in the film.

                  • +1

@Ozziechhora: Why are even bothered by a guy with bankrupted ideology and hollow arguments? It is a docufilm which collected 20 times its original investment. I heard 8 years back about the plight of the Kashmiri pandits. If governments can decide which movie should become a blockbuster, then this movie would be a blockbuster. This guy eats and vomits on the same plate. If India is a facist country, he would have been dead by now.

Sure it does, but how does that justify/negate what i said ?
I did not even mention the platform (guess you are referring to Z5).

Tame Racism, i would say majority would disagree with racism being tame.

      • That one group is cause of genocide in India and global persistent terrorism in the name of religion and their 'one true god' that is highly intolerant and hateful to those that don't follow his orders.

    • Are you referring to the play on wprds above? The change of the discount code? If so, I don't call this racism. But maybe there's more I missed coz i came to the party a little late.
