AliExpress "Pocket PC" ZX01 Windows 11 Mini PC Intel N5105

👆Lol there's a L plate 'cos I'm new

Hello OzBharg'n.

Does the following computer seem reasonable to you guys?

Seems like a good deal given the specs. Intel graphics notwithstanding so you're not going to be playing video games or mining fictitious digital monopoly money with one of these fellas, but for typical Internet browsing and standard office nonsense it seems like it'd do the trick.

However, there's no brand name, just an 'Intel Inside' on the cover. Presumably it's a Kingdel. I'm not familiar with that brand though. That article also mentions that it doesn't include a Windows 11 product key, which has me a little alarmed.

Has anyone bought one of these? Would the hardware be secure and as advertised, do you think?

    • Windows 11 on an Intel i5? How'd they manage that?

Or this when it comes back in stock

        • Woah, nice! I can see why that went out of stock, damn.

        The refurbished it

        • Yeah, my worry was that the i5 might be a little too old for Windows 11 to run properly on it.

Some of the other commenters brought up that exact point in the thread though and it looks like an upgrade to Windows 10 is possible anyway so it's all g.

          • @whatwasherproblem: I run windows 11 on a surface pro 3 it runs good, my main machine is a m1 pro Mac so I’m not biased and I know speed lol

they're fine, I guess. No warranty though.

You can buy a Intel Pentium Silver N6000 htpc locally for around $280. This is just for the PC though and there's no included memory or SSD.

If you're concerned about CPU performance, Lenovo ThinkCentre M700 / Lenovo M710Q from eBay (including RAM, Disk, Windows 10) is less than $300 (as low as $250 if you have coupons) and those are equipped with Skylake generation Core i5 6500T, which are 35 watt desktop processors. Will be a lot faster than a 10 watt Intel Pentium. These will not run Windows 11 officially.

    • That MSI Mini PC looks neat! Are you sure it doesn't include the RAM/SSD though? It's a little hard for me to read their spec but it seems to be implying that it comes with storage though.

Yeah the Lenovo ThunkCentres are always pretty legit, but I've been trying to veer away from Lenovo stuff lately. They always seem to install so much bloat along with the OS and Microsoft makes OS reinstalls such a pain these days.

I think there is a NUC kit for N6005, for 10w(TDP) CPU I think it performs better than some older generations as well as support vp8/vp9/av1 decode.
