Retail Staff to start wearing Bodycams

Just read the news that staff would start wearing Bodycams in retail stores. Yes totally against abusive customers but regular customer shouldn't be subject to this crap.

Would staff be happy if they are being filmed by customer at all times? I guess No.

  • Everyone needs to wear body cams. We can then take the worst culprits on a nightly basis and run a 30 min TV show. That would get people behaving.

I sometimes think if they put thieves in medieval stocks in the town square and let the mob loose on them with their rotten vegetables would help. Obviously we can have more police but never enough to catch all of them. Paying too much for prisons. I remember the question posed once: why would you need jails if everyone acted righteously?

  • I'm sick of customers treating young staff like trash to the point they are sometimes left in tears.

Had a big guy give a staff member such an earful, by the time I got to her she was shaking. As soon as she called me to the counter he casually walked out of the store.

This is the stuff that concerns me and my peers. We don't want anyone going home feeling like shit.

  • I'm fine with it. It's private property that I'm entering on their terms. They can film me all they want.

Filming me at home however? No. That's not cool. But how many people have amazon and google devices IN THEIR HOMES now? Like, what do they think all those high tech microphones are doing constantly?

My wife has worked in retail for years and I'm super happy if they introduced this for her. She has been on the receiving end of so much bs over the years, would make mofo's think twice before they start with unprovoked aggression and escalation. There's some self entitled and crazy buggers out there and front line service people face them all the time.
