    In my opinion, the Lord of the Rings hits its stride in the second novel “The Two Towers” (which is technically Book III: The Treason Of Isengard). From then on it is non-stop action and adventure and intrigue, with the occasional humorous incident.

    I’m so glad I kept reading past Book I and II, and so glad I read them before the movies came out (the movies are nowhere near as good).
