  • Price in title please

  • what the jeesus, $117?

    • $112.41 for 2 globes

      • -1

oh wow, thank goodness for that then!, ill buy 4!

    • aha, thats why it's a secret.

  • -7

So OP. You want me to buy 2 light bulbs for $112 dollars?

Do these bulbs 💡 generate me bitcoin or some sort of cash flow?

    • -4

      lol, i reckon.

i got 2x lenovo colour smart bulbs from OW for less than $30

    • +4

The globes go for $99 each at Bunnings, so yes it's a good deal.

If you are not into Hue, please move on.

Yes they are ridiculously expensive, but I have tried other brands and these are the best…

      • Still dunno why people compare these cheap wifi lightbulbs with philips hue ones. For a full house the philips hue ecosystem with zigbee is worth it. For the odd one or two for a casual user obviously better off going with this 2 for 30 lenovo setup.

      • +3

Exactly. I have both Ikea Tradfri and Phillips Hue bulbs and even with those it can be very easily understood why Hue is expensive. Don’t know why people compare apples with oranges.

      • I've bought a number of starter kits with 3 globes for around the $50-$80 range, so 2 globes for $112 isn't fantastic.

        • If they were colour then they were clearance. Colour kits are normally around $280.

      • -4

So despite it been cheap is still a ripoff.

    • +2

Nope but make the kids happy when you can have a disco in their room!

    • Yes, OP is holding you at knife point to buy these.

  • There is a "tomorrow" in the calendar box. Maybe?

    • the deal expires at 8am tomorrow

  • +1

Philips hue is head and shoulders above the rest.

As for this deal, $112 is a pretty good price for two E27 bulbs. Below is the Bayonet version of the bulbs at the same price if anyone wants Bayonet

  • My colour Hue light keeps turning on by itself. Second one to do it.

    Really annoying.

I've checked for linked services, firmware, even cleaned up the bridge, and issue persists

    • The bulb is dying I’ve had to replace a couple over the years.

      • I had one that made up it's own colours. One of the early versions with the silver base. still can't bring myself to chuck it out.

  • Not worth with UK import as it gonna be hard to claim warranty if anything goes wrong. Or you can take the chance

    • +1

Amazon are very good with refunds when O/S stuff is faulty

      • Have you done return to overseas?

        • +2

If it's sold by Amazon, they don't bother. They just refund.

          • @singingwolf: Hope I can confirm this with someone has claimed warranty with the overseas purchases. I doubt they will refund all oversea warranty claims.

  • -1

thanks, I just droped my bulb by accident while unplugging something so need to buy new ones

    • -5

Yep. Time to dish out $100+ for a light bulb all in the name of technology 😀

  • Are these better than the LIFX 1000 Lumens 2-pack for $79? Totally understand that if you're already on the Hue ecosystem, these are less appealing. But for someone setting up a new smart light network, doesn't the LIFX represent better value?

    • I moved house recently and had enormous trouble setting up my older LIFX bulbs - they just would not connect. Several emails back and forth to the help desk and hours fiddling around with them and I have 2 out of 3 working. May be something fixed in the newer bulbs though.

I have Hue - they didn't move with me but I'd be very confident they'd just connect straight away given they have their own bridge.

    • +1

I’d go LIFX if you just want to do half a dozen bulbs or so. If you wanted to set up a whole house personally I’d go Hue to run things over ZigBee and keep the bulbs off the wifi network.

  • These are the older ones though - the new ones are 1100 lumens. Have friends who have the 800 lumen ones are they're pretty happy with them. YMMV, as with all things!

    • +1

Philips Hue currently offers three versions of colour bulbs: 800 lumens, 1100 lumens & 1600 lumens!
