    How about TAS?

    • +3

Considering IGA Tasmania has its groceries and other goods supplied by Tasmanian Independent Retailers (not Metcash), IGA Tasmania kinda do their own thing with catalogues and promotions.

I also couldn’t find an early bird IGA catalogue for a Tasmanian IGA store. I randomly picked IGA X-press New Norfolk’s catalogue, but they only showed this week’s current catalogue. That’s probably why IGA Tasmania is missing from the post.

Hmmm…I didn’t realise Metcash wasn’t the distributor here. Which is interesting because the gift cards issued and managed by Metcash for their various brands all work here. My son brought down a few hundred dollars in mixed IGA and Callarbrations GCs and they bought us a Christmas feast.

        • +2

The following is educated guesses, so don’t take it as gospel…

AFAIK, Metcash licence the IGA brand from Independent Grocers Alliance in the USA, and then Metcash in turn sub-licence the IGA brand to Tasmanian Independent Retailers (TIR) for them to use in Tasmania.

My guess is that as part of the sub-licensing agreement, TIR are free to handle grocery distribution and marketing as they see fit, and TIR can also leave it up to individual retailers in Tasmania as to whether they will accept any gift cards issued by Metcash. However, it seems that nearly all IGAs in Tasmania IGA gift cards, but I haven’t done a thorough analysis to see whether there are any Tasmanian IGA stores that do not accept IGA gift cards.

Can someone tell me why these Dr Oetker pizzas are so popular amongst ozbargain? I tried one about 12 months ago and it wasn't particularly impressive nor any better than the everyday Woolworths $3.30 pizzas, at least not 70c better and certainly not more than twice as good when full price. The McCain's ones seem to be the best choice (when on sale) when balancing price, taste and topping amount.

Are they drastically better and I tried a dud?

    • +1

To me they used to be quite decent i.e. better than Domino for like half the price so it was good value for money. However I feel like the quality has went down hill lately and I’m not so keen to stock up on them a lot anymore.

      • +1

yeah i used to eat the spinach one a lot where they were half price for $3 or so. But the quality and the taste has declined rapidly and I don't like it anymore.

    • +2

Spinachi is the best, rest are average.
