  • A good deal when combined with the vouchers I keep getting bombarded with when I signed up like this $25 off. Not sure if it’s generic.

Says invalid or expired for me :(

  • Does this work with referral links?

These deals work as long as you spend the offer amount directly with AMEX. Does not matter what discount you receive.

I wish the referral credit part will be part of the actual post. I missed it and signed up already. Only realised it was an option when I saw it mentioned in the comments.

  • Here's a tip just so you guys don't make the mistake I did. Don't use this service from the airport unless you have a big job going a far distance. Most people will cancel small jobs (jobs $55 and under), and that goes for all rideshare apps. My Amex card thought it was a fraud attempt because of how many tries the app tried to find a driver (and then they cancelled in favour of another job) and charge the card. I had to go into my email to unblock the card

If you're booking from anywhere else going to the airport there isn't so much of that problem. Just going from the airport is an absolute nightmare. In particular Sydney airport because the taxi drivers on this app get confused when you're waiting in the rideshare location

Other than that it seems the app works

    • I just got a ride via Placie from Sydney domestic airport to the inner west ($30) tonight and it worked fine, no cancellations. Driver knew where the rideshare "Priority Pick-up" area was, couldn't have been easier. Ymmv

      • I had a $55 ride declined by about 160 partner drivers. Maybe you got them at a time where theyre not that busy. I had some drivers even call to confirm where I'm going to and upon me saying Sydney CBD, they cancelled the trip.

One other thing I've noticed is that if you book a cab through the system, you can't update the pickup address (for example if they come the back door way and you are at the front entrance of a hotel). There's also no way of contacting the specific driver (the number is generic for 13 cabs)

  • Do I need the ride to be over 30 dollars or could it be 2 x 15 dollars? Also, if I spen 35, then 35, do I get 30off on both times?

    • Multiple transactions are ok, capped at one $30 credit per card.
