Ever dreamed of owning a filament globe to make Edison proud (despite this being a bayonet fitting)? What about if you combined it with the powers of Bluetooth? Well, now you can! For the princely sum of $25, you too can turn your house into an inner suburbs hipster den, and control it from your phone. Bueno.

Camels tell me it’s the cheapest it’s ever been. Enjoy!

    Nice price.. bc socket though…

  • How many lumens at max brightness?

    • +2

This 7 watt/hr 'filament look' LED globe outputs 550 lumens which is equivalent to a standard 40watt filament globe. It is dimmable by the hue app (standard hardware dimmers may* break it)

      *depending on dimmer

    • This is selling for the same price at JB HiFi and is rated at 550 lumens, not even bright enough for a laundry.

      • not even bright enough for a laundry.

Laundry needs 5-10k lumens, bedroom more like 1-2k, so I can imagine a few of these in a bedroom, or as feature lights in a living space is probably more the intended use.

      • +3

I like my laundry to be blindingly bright.

    • If you are worrying about brightness then obviously this bulb is not for you. Get the regular ones they are abt sub 1k lumen each.

      • I own plenty of those. The listing didn't state how many lumens it was, and the first reply answered the question that probably a few people were wondering. It's 550. I may have bought one if it was e27.

        • What I mean is that I think they are meant to create certain vibes/atmosphere instead of actually lighting up the room, so the brightness really doesn't matter in its typical applications.

          • @truetypezk: The brightness still matters because the point of a light bulb is to create light.

What I really want are the 'Dubai' Philips LEDs:
    https://hackaday.com/2021/01/17/leds-from-dubai-the-royal-li…

Super efficient low power, long lasting LEDs. Ideal in a desk lamp. Can't buy them here.

I was going to say Big Clive did a tear down of them then I realised the link was talking about his video. Fantastic voice to listen to, reminds me both of home and most of the stuff I learned in my engineering degree and forgot over the last few decades!

    • +1

But not Hue and with an awful CRI of 80. I have a few 80CRI lights and only use them when I don't care about the stuff I'm looking at (almost never).

  • +3

Beware though, if you don't own the bridge, you won't be able to setup routine or scene for your home automation.

    • +1

I think most just need at least to have the globe turn on and off upon command would be enough

      • Bluetooth bulbs don't need the bridge, they can do it all via the phone app. Not sure how they store the timer settings though as it can trigger without your phone, maybe on the light itself.

  • +1

Well it's actually an LED and just looks like a filament coil.

    • Exactly. Misleading description.

I reported the deal but the mods didn't change the title.

You have already reported this item before as Title/Description.

Edit: Thanks for the fix @hamza23

My local Bunnings has these on clearance for $5 (or at least incredibly similar looking) - LED, Phillips, smart

  • Hue has been very reliable for me compared to wemo/osram/ikea smart bulbs I’ve dabbled with and the only brand of smart bulb that seems to have stuck around the shelves of Bunnings for 5 years tho while I’d expect ikea to be in for the long haul, pretty sure they don’t do B22. $25 is a good price I feel. Yes it’s not that bright but for a colour temp adjustable bulb it’s a nice unit as ornamental / extra light source

  • Ah hey guys remember there is a difference between “ambience” and non ambience. This post seems to be fixed colour temp?

These are colour temperature changing, also $25, also Bluetooth, and IN STOCK

For decoration, even though only 550lumen, the superior coily bulb IMHO
