GYG Wait Time?

I like GYG, I think it's one of the better tasting fast food joints out there but has anyone else found their wait times horrendous? Everytime I've been, I've had to wait at least 20 minutes even after I've ordered online and arrived well past the expected time they said it would be ready. Often for something like a single burrito or enchilada.

Is this just my joint or has everyone had the same elsewhere?

No issues with wait time but ordering at the counter is the equivalent of lucky dip. Make sure you triple check your order

  • Burrito Bar is worse IMO

    • Oh I've never heard of them. Any good? Food wise I mean haha

  • 20 minutes for me and 40 minutes for a friend on Tuesday - ordered on app.

  • The wait estimate shown on the app after you purchase is wildly optimistic, so don't rely on it . If you order during peak days and hours its gonna be a long wait as people order via uber etc as well. A couple times its been a long wait, so much so that other food I bought got cold.

yeah I've learnt not to rely on it. I've been trying to avoid peak days/hours, that's why I made this post because this is the fourth time in a row while varying times and days. 20-30 minutes for a single take away burrito just isn't worth it.

  • I'm in the same boat. Yesterday I did an online app order and arrived a couple minutes after the expected ready time and still had to wait a further 20 minutes for it to be ready.

Good food but tbh I'm surprised their Google reviews aren't lower due to the horrendous wait times

I think it's a problem with takeaways across the board now that delivery services have increased so much since COVID. You think a place looks empty enough you won't have a wait and then you order and watch them fill up Uber Eats bags for 30 minutes.

    • some are worse than others. my local mcdonalds is usually pretty fast, even at 1 - 3 AM with 8 customers waiting in the drivethrough and only 3 - 4 people on staff, whereas the local hungry jacks is almost always as slow as molasses in the middle of the day and afternoons, when they are fully staffed.

they are only a 5 min walk or a 2 min drive from each other.

      • Yes I think Schnitz is the definite worst I've seen.

  • It used to be around 15-20 minutes but we stopped going due to the shrinking portion sizes and reduced quality. The final time we went they put salt on churro toast instead of cinnamon, only filled a long black half way, served a flat white that was cold, and then there were the eggs…

    • Yeah I've noticed the smaller portion and reduced quality. Burrito bowls seem way smaller than they used to be and the enchilada seems to have way more rice than anything else now.

Never had a issue with stores in SE Queensland. Usually have my order within 10 minutes from ordering.

  • No issues at my local with the app, but definitely slower than counter orders at the one near my work.

  • Their app ordering and pick up in store is horrible. No system at all, and the poor person who has to hand out the bags has no help. Just other workers dump wrapped food next to her, and then she has to work out with bag it goes in

    • Always see heaps of prepared burritos just sitting on the counter until someone comes to figure out which bag they go into.

      • Also, their drive through system doesn’t work because it takes a while for food to come out.

  • I had the opposite experience today at Broadway, Ordered on the app at 1:05 and it was ready at 1:08. It really seems to vary by store but Broadway has always been fantastic.

  • Almost as slow as kfc
