Diablo 3 is in this week's catalogue (starting Thursday) at Big W for $58. $1 cheaper than Dick Smith.

Most stores got the stock in today (only about 20 copies at my local store – under embargo) and will be selling them tomorrow for the $58 price (despite the catalogue not starting til Thursday).

Cheaper than Dick Smith, JB, Game and EB Games.

  • JB Hifi Pitt Street refused to price match Big W saying sale is only from Thursday. I told them that other JBs were doing pricematching Big W but they still refused.

One of the other staff members said DSE was at $59 so they'll match that.

Exact same thing happened 2 me.
      I went to DSE instead.

Im really starting to hate JB customer service!!

For everyone whose having issues with a BigW store, try DSE if they are also near by for $1 more.

      • My local EB would always refuse to pricematch games that weren't released in other stores yet but it sounds like you'd still be better off trying at JB (or just go to DSE)

      • Yep, JB Hi-Fifi also refused at Melbourne CBD store. I don't think I want to buy from JB again

  • BigW Bonyrigg had about 8 copies left. I managed to score one of the massive D3 boxes as well they packaged it in! That's my 'Collectors' Edition.

  • Grabbed one from Big W westfield garden city (Bris, QLD). I had to ask a lady at the counter who opened a full box and grabbed it.

  • JB hifi at merrylands pricematched BIG W with no problems. Good luck to everyone who is trying to get a copy!!

Big W in Brisbane city is out of stock, JB-Hifi aren't pricematching fyi

    • Thanks, I'll try the DSEs in the CBD instead then.

      • DSEs in Brisbane CBD were sold out. JB-Hifi Albert St had stock but won't price match "because DSE have sold out".

  • JB pitt st price matched easily to big W.

    • I guess it depends who you talk to… earlier in the morning the guys at the desk refused to price match big w!!

  • Picked up my copy at Big W Eastland - only a few left!!

Price matched at EB with no issues! Great find

  • Jb bourke st have heaps. Just mentioned big w and $58 no probs.

  • Just matched BigW at JB Bourke st Melbourne!

  • JB Elizabeth St Melbourne will not price match

    • Can confirm JB Bourke St, Melbourne price match for $58 though.

  • JB Eastland had stock 1hr ago and priced match DSE.

  • Picked up a copy from JB Knox, price matched to BigW with no issues (didn't need a catalogue). They keep the D3 copies behind the counter in case anyone else wanders around the store for 5 mins looking for it.

  • Just priced matched for $58 at the Myer Centre EB games in Brisbane. Looked like they had heaps of copies. They said they will only be price matching today :-)

  • Printed out BigW ad.. took it to Jbhifi (Helensvale homeworld), they price matched it.. great!

  • Got last one in KAWANA

  • Trying to install it….. stuck during the "Updating setup files" process
    Same as those guys…. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4926494150

    • Installing on OSX from retail media, it's stuck at 5% and wont go any further, second time I tried it gets stuck at the same place you say. If Australian users are slamming the authentication and install servers so hard they are not coping, god help us when the Americans and the rest of the world come on-line.

    • Killed and retried several times and got it working… The servers must be saturated

  • jb in galleries victoria will price match dick smith $59

  • Price matched just now at jb Burke st melb, no worries at all , they have plenty in stock.

    • I got it for 58

  • This sucks… we had to wait until 5PM Australian time to play (should have been 17 hours earlier) but now its finally time to play the server is busy.

    • Yeah servers busy…. :(

    • [Edit] Can't change the server region as it's locked given the Country configured in the Battlenet account…

      • That will change soon. SC2 was locked to Asia but they updated accounts to allow you to play on NA servers not long after launch.

But yeah, I hate Blizzard's always on battle.net service. Makes sense for multiplayer but even if you only want to play single player, if their service is busy or down you can't play.

Went to Big W (Doncaster) at 9am this morning.
Asked for Diablo 3, was told they sold out. Considering they only opened half an hour ago, I was quite surprised. I asked how many they had.

They had SIX copies for the entire store. This is a store in a major shopping centre.
Absolute blatant attempt at luring customers into their store.

Simply went to Dick Smith and purchased my copies from there.

      For $1 more??

      Not worth it

  • Kmart was extraordinary tonight! They price matched dick smith for $59 even though it was out of stock EVERYWHERE else closeby!

  • Can i get a dodgy Russian cd key for this cheaper?

    • Maybe but Russian release is June 7th

  • Went to 2 Big W's… sold out. Went to 4 Dicksmith's…. sold out.

    • you're wasting time and money. they're sold out at every dicksmith and bigw. use their stock checker or buy from dicksmith online +$5 postage or if you really want it now go to ebgames and get it for $88

  • The procurement managers at BigW and DSE should be sacked… Easily the biggest game of the year and we have stores stocking only <10 copies?

    Fail.

    • Given they were selling it pretty cheap relative to everywhere else, they were probably instructed to do so as they would have been making little to no profit on it.

      • +1

If they were making little profit, then wouldn't it make sense to try and sell as much as you can?

        • ^ This but then again it's not like you really go for volume with games. If it was something perishable it's more understandable, since games can get saturated in to the market while perishables won't.

  • Big W at liverpool westfield sold out
