Tips for No Suitable Flights Leaving Australia Either Cost or Time

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anybody had any tips for finding cheap/low point flights routes to Europe? E.g big hubs to fly in/out of etc. Is there a way of looking at all Qantas reward flights at multiple locations/starting points?

I'm really tempted to take a short approx 11/12 day trip to Wales to see family as struggling to find time at any other point this year (done the flight several times so understand it can be a killer of a trip for that short of a time but I don't have a lot of options).

There is so much availability for a 1 way flight from London, Manchester etc for 55,000 points but I am struggling to find anything even suitable getting the other way, no reward flights, one ways which are more than the return price. I have a $450 qantas amex voucher I was hoping to use but even their return fares are $2.5-3k.

I'm quite restricted to needing to be there by the 5th of June at around 1pm latest, on the way back more flexible too being around the 15th.

I keep getting an access denied error on the Qantas website but tried low cost airlines like Scoot but they all seem to have a ridiculous 35+ duration which makes me too late on arrival. I've tried flying into loads of combinations of asian cities then into Europe and visa versa.

Thanks for any info to help in my search, I know it's hardpushed but wondering if anybody out there has any handy tips.

    I'm quite restricted

This basically means you'll have to pay higher fares.

Have you tried a travel agent?

So, points redemption, less than a month from now, specific dates, premium airline, short layover, peak summer season using a diluted frequent flyer plan, that many people have large point balances, on a route that has limited seats due to the fact that many airlines have suspended flights due to Covid. Should be easy enough.
Try manila or Jakarta as starting point, or fly to Europe not Uk, then book a paid flight Europe to wales.

    • Not to mention it is the middle of summer for them so peak travel time

  • google flights. scotts cheap flights has a guide on how to use it.

We’ve been searching and have just secured flights from Melbourne to Dublin for end of June returning July. For award flights I’d recommend trying redemptions from Bangkok via Doha to European hubs. Return try European hubs via Dubai. You should be able to get a mix of business and/or first with Qatar and Emirates.

What about Scoot to LGW via SIN and BKK on 30 May? 28 hours…
