Best option to receive SMS overseas

Looking for the best option for receiving SMS overseas for a short trip (less than 3 weeks).

  • Preferably prepaid
  • Definitely no contract
  • Won't be making calls/using data overseas
  • Want to transfer my main number and keep afterwards

Aldi $5 prepaid sim. Lasts 1 year.

  • Optus Flex E-sim.
Pay for the $1 daily plan - cancel 1h later.
The number is valid and works overseas for 6 months.

  • Sorry, I should have said, i want to use my main/current number, and keep it after the trip.

    • Felix is a good option. Good value

Who are you with currently can't you just use them? Main carriers if you're on them you can roam and recieve SMS for free (even telstra) as long as you dont send sms, recieve or make calls and use data.

$0 Amaysim, I used to use Amaysim for recieving SMS overseas when I worked abroad.

  • I've decided to get a half price Telstra sim and use wifi calling/SMS over there

  • I think this threads gives me some options to look at .. similar requirements I just posted on whirlpool

What would be the best plan for the following?

    1. don't care about data or outgoing calls
    2. need roaming (incoming texts)
    3. No charges for local call forwarding
    4. ideally on Telstra network for service during long drives
    5. cheaper the better

I am thinking "tangerine" – but there is not much on the website about roaming and call forwarding.
