I wanted to share the picture of it on the shelf, but OzBargain prefers I share a link over an image. But the image is worth the share so I updated my description.
So it looks like it was stock all the way back from the XB1 launch. Of course we know now that launch didn't pan out so well, and Insomniac didn't continue to do game deals with Microsoft. There are lots of copies of these left over.
But if people do enjoy the game for the game, then absolutely its a great deal.
Personally I enjoyed Insomniac's output on the PS2 with Ratchet and Clank. The series progressed closer and closer towards having standardized third person shooter controls which was not for me, and so I didn't quite have that interest in Sunset Overdrive.
But you've got a butt that won't quit. They've got these big chewy pretzels here (undecipherable slurring) five dollars?! Get outta here

Haha thought everyone knew about it, like it wasn't a special, it has been the listed price and whenever you sort games by price (low to high ofcourse) you'll find it pretty much up there always.

I did a search for Sunset Overdrive, sorted by post date. No results at least with Sunset Overdrive in the title going for $5.
I am also aware that this isn't a new deal. I've visited JB a few times lately and its always on the shelf with this sticker price.

This is an absolute classic that didn’t get its deserved attention due to the Xbox One’s struggles at the start of the last generation.
Was on games with gold a few years back. Fun game definitely worth $5
Look, so long as we're all hounding JB for shit we can get for under 10 bucks with the vouchers, I'll let y'all know, I got the last copy of NBA 2K17 at Chirnside Park the other day amongst a bunch of other crap.
I tried it on GamePass but couldn't get into it, seemed okay but didn't pull me in enough to jump the queue on my backlog pile of shame. Maybe one day as I've heard great things.
Awesome fun, surprisingly disregarded game.
Great and colourful game. The studio went on to make Spider-man for PlayStation.
It looks a bit like Jet Set Radio or am I completely wrong?

I got physical disc for free from Xbox booth at PAX AUS many years ago.
Definitely worth your time. Had a bunch of fun playing this. One of the few games that I've played all the way through
