  • damn I just purchased this yesterday for $1299…wanted to check up on my order and noticed the price drop…prices are dropping fast

    • +7

It's only $30 in your case, not exactly a huge difference.

      • +1

yea, not worth the hassle to cancel and re-order. oh well hope whoever was interested can save an extra $30

    • +4

Not that big of a drop but thankyou for sharing

    • +12

Don't worry, it will be $1239 tomorrow if that makes you feel any better.

      • haha you're right, that makes me feel better

    HODL……….!

    • HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODL!1111

  • where did all 3080 deals go…

    • +2

      I wanted a 3080, because 8gb feels a bit short for a 4k card.

The 3080s however appear to have become stuck on pricing. The 6800xt and 6900xt are now looking to be much better options.

      • that is true, however how good team red handle all ray tracing beauty - from what I'm getting, team green is unbeatable in that regard.
for 1440 gaming at 120FPS max (monitor cap), I reckon getting 12GB version of 3080 would allow to not bother about GPU upgrades for a few years.

    • +1

With LHR being cracked, retailers probably keeping the prices high.

  • +2

Where are the bloody 6800XT deals at

    • +1

Exactly - 6900XT is so overkill, this should help make the 6800XT more competitive.

      • +1

Not when using Raytracing, the 6900XT is gonna need all that extra horse power.

Hitman 3 recommend specs with raytracing:

        Recommended hardware requirements
NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT.
        Intel Core i7 10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X.
        16 GB RAM.

        • RT is not worth the performance hit no matter what GPU you get. I am yet to see a modern game where it significantly adds to the gameplay. Hopefully next generation of GPUs from the Red and Green teams provide improved RT performance to the point that developers make use of it in a more significant manner.

          • @shellshocked: What I don't get is how awesome Ratch & Clank looks with RT on the PS5 and still performs at 60fps, the raytracing isn't night and day improvement, but it also doesn't tank performance. On PCs with actualy RTX cores it seems to destroy performance, though the raytracing can look awesome.

            • +1

@FabMan: Because they have optimised the RT reflections for the AMD hardware in the PS5. The Unix-like OS on the PS5 also doesn't have the overheads that Windows does.

              • @shellshocked: I'm pretty sure it is optimised by not putting too much on, a minor use of raytracing when compared to options on RTX games on PC.

          • @shellshocked: RT might not add a lot to gameplay, however it helps with eye candy and immersion, judging from likes of Cyberpunk or Metro. Single player games are not really about top edge performance in terms of max FPS but chill and enjoy the story.

    • Got fed up of waiting for any 6800xt deals, just went with a 6700xt for $679, will do me for what i play, 6900xt deals not to bad but just overkill for my needs

Is there a bottom edition too?

Serious though, how is this better than the other RX6900 XT deal?

I saw this, so I hope it helps.

      • Cheers mate!

  • Is this better than the 6900xt speedster?

    • +1

Pretty much equivalent. Asus didn't stuff up this generation with their coolers. The TUF cooler is one of the better 3080 coolers so I see no reason why the more efficient 6900XT wouldn't be cooled sufficiently.

      • i think there maybe some slight differences as the 3080/ 3090 tuf is only 300mm long while the 6900xt tuf is 320mm long

$1265 at JW Computers now. Your move PC Byte 👀

Now I regret not selling my 5700XT a few months ago for $2000 when the market was crazy.

    • Hindsight is 20/20.

Don't worry someone else is saying they regret purchasing their high priced gpu seeing the prices fall now.

It's the circle of life or rollercoaster of life whichever you prefer.
